RE: SB Nation open records request into WMU HC search.
How did this kid not get the job?
Hi there Kathy, in light of the recent move by PJ Fleck to leave Western to coach at Minnesota I would like to throw my hat in the ring for the current job opening at head coach. My football related accomplishments include being an all conference offensive tackle in high school, 3 fantasy football championships, a 12-3 record in Madden 15 online, and currently having 2nd place in the in-house rankings for Madden 15 between my four roommates. Hiring me would definitely be a gamble. I’ve been known to be a bit of a wild card but weren’t all the greats? God knows Woody Hayes was as unstable as a North Korean Nuke but I am very flexible, I’m not sure what the market salary is for a 19 year old head coach with almost no experience but I’m willing to settle for 1,300 dollars and a cheeseburger but that’s my absolute minimum. I truly believe I have what it takes to lead WMU to the playoffs and to a national title.

I found it interesting that it was apparent that Pinkham was interested in the job... kind of ties up all of that speculation and wonder about why Lester didn't keep him around... I would bet he didn't want to be here as anything less than an HC going forward.

I sensed the same. Tough to stick around and work under a younger guy that got the job you were passed over for.

Some of these resumes are hilarious. Some of the serious ones too.

Interesting that one of Lester's core values for the football team is to treat women with respect. Shouldn't we treat everyone with respect?

Interesting that Coach Duggan was mentioned by more than one person for the head job and Luke Juriga's dad expressed interest in coaching?

I think Juriga's father offered her his help with the contacts he knows.

I find it disappointing and disturbing that Pinkham was passed over for Lester.
That said, I wish Lester well.

Saw Pinkham described his style as "tough love," which probably gave her Cubit flashbacks. And he says something about being the guy that helped PJ refocus?

Hasn't EVERY WMU Coach done that? You're right Nacho! Every gopher I can dig up has said Hell Yes to every HC not only treating every man, woman, and child like a Bronco, as which they All have... and regardless of circumstance, they All Have Had the respect to shine through in all it's glory!
HOWEVER -- The main thing is this: That Cheeseburger kid -- he should have gotten it. :)

Pretty sure KB consulted with the team and listened to what they had to say. She knew she had to keep the " youth movement " going with the coaching staff and head coach in particular. Gotta have the right person that the kids can relate to.

Well, your statement is saying that there isn't an issue about respect with women worth mentioning -- not any more than any other randomly selected demographic. So it's a slap when one says that. :)
Now, if you're dealing with a bunch of trouble-makers, you say both, like "Our core values is to treat everyone with respect -- notably women, seeing as too many of you are from Minnesota..."

I've never been a fan of the "Blue Collar" warm-fuzzies some people always make analogies about. Always makes me roll my eyes. But hey, if it can be done well to get a team going, by all means...
