WBB
Going to be a long season after Verdi left and some of his top stars did as well.
I looked at last night's box score and had an OMG moment: Newcomers scored a total of TWO points.

EDIT: I might add parenthetically, that someone commented that he was disappointed by the newcomers for MBB. It has taken some time but Steele is breaking out. Madray is still learning the ropes. But don't worry, Nobles who is a young eagle, is showing good development.
We're getting more from Steele and Nobles than many thought we would.

Haven't been paying any attention to women's basketball this season, but I've seen it's been rough. Just went and looked at our record: 0-6 in the MAC and 5-13 overall. Yikes.

I predicted 6 - 12 and think I was being charitable.
We had graduation losses and then two stars, Sweeney and Morton, left during the off season and...
Castro walked into a really bad situation.

And my information is that he's not making it any better. But then thats to be expected with a new coach. He needs 1 or 2 mores to work things out then we'll see.

I agree with Super, give him another two years. I think he's living up to his rep as a recruiter. Not sure how good he is at X and Os or his temperament.

Outside of Track and Swimming, Women's Basketball might be the most successful program.
Merchant, Gilbert, and Verdi were all able to win here. I'm hoping Castro can keep that tradition going.

This could me make or break for WBB.
The succession from Merchant to Gilbert to Verdi was good. The cupboard was never empty.
This year was different. When Sweeney and Morton 'flew the coup' the situation Castro inherited was radically different than previous successions. He has a total rebuild job. That wasn't the case with Gilbert and Verdi.

Eh....
Verdi went 8-22 in his first year after Gilbert went 23-9 the year before.
The difference is, Tav and Paige left due to graduation with Gilbert.
Sweeney and Morton just left (and it's their right to do so).
I think Castro will be ok. He probably has a much different style than Verdi and it will just take a bit of time.

I understand your points and they are valid.
The big problem with WBB is that the bleeding hasn't ended.
After this season the team loses both Webb and Deans, two of the top three teams so even though there are good recruits and transfers the amount of loss (e.g., Sweeney, Morton, Webb and Deans) is so hard to replace quickly.
Replacing them is by no means automatic.
The team may not improve until say 2018-19 season if one assume that they are perhaps the worst MAC team this year .AND. lose two of their three top scorers.
