Joey Jones put in a LOT of work and effort to get this team going. That should be celebrated. Maybe he moves to Director of Football Operations or something. I do wish he had been more successful because he is so likable. He has been bad enough to irritate fans but good enough to get a pass and keep the job. I hope we are able to keep ties to him in some way.

It’s been ugly for a while. Joey will, as he should, finish the season and become vested in the retirement system then ride off into the sunset.

Just let them announce that Joey has decided to step down as head football coach at the end of the season. At this time he will continue with the program in an administrative roll focusing on fundraising for new facilities within the athletic program, you know, an OCS.

That just means in a year it shouldn't happen, it will. Also, we will then go into the NMSU game with a 5-6 record and playing for a bowl, and we will get destroyed the last game of the season playing with no heart. That is also our MO.

I think that is what will happen. We will find a way to beat southern, then blow a 4th quarter lead to New Mexico State and not make it to a bowl

Yea, I think he needs to win 3 more games, including the bowl game. The problem is this...if he goes 6-7, do we give him a 5 year extension? I hope not.

If he goes 7-6, and we can actually beat some teams straight up (not using tons of opponents mistakes like in the Troy or Ark State games), then I'm willing to not be furious with a 2 year extension.

I'm really concerned about NMSU. They have an offense. They will be playing on Senior Day and on their last day in the conference and probably for a bowl bid of their own.
