The columnist is right only when you use them as a play on words. The Chippewas are currently the bowl season's biggest loser in point differential, however there's still 325 more games to go during the holidays. But we're in the clubhouse with a huge score that's going to be difficult to overtake.
Central was pretty good the first month of the year, but key injuries and very thin depth lead to a quite unsatisfying 6-7 record. But no one, NO ONE, will take away from being in the stands watching Central's game at Oklahoma State and the ecstasy of witnessing that incredible final play.

So, TU>>>CMU>OSU>most of the Big 12. I'm cool with that.
Best to you next season Chippewas. You helped us make the Pokes look bad which is always nice.

When I was playing high school tennis, one season we lost every single conference game. The following season, we made t-shirts that said Ohio Cardinal Conference Champions on them. The difference is... we made them as a joke. Everyone knew we were terrible.
This... This is just sad.

The comments section is fun to read.
"Alternative Facts rings".
If I was an OSU player I'd be embarrassed to wear that ring.
Toledo had a much bigger case when Syracuse "made" that FG a few years ago but didn't obsess over it.

The only way I could see that HC understandably putting 11-2 on the rings...
.... is if during that CMU game, he went nuts but nobody saw him... and on the final play, they boycotted defending CMU's pass, and CMU scored -- but him believing the game should have ended.
That did NOT happen in ANY WAY AT ALL. He *believed* it was a LEGIT FLAG. And it should have been, but the new 00s rule was flawed that nobody picked up. Hence, he's Acting like he knew it was bogus all along. That technicality false call, which wasn't the last play of the game, that he believed Was legit too, didn't make them lose. The Hail Mary they gave up did.

Oklahoma is a state with not much else besides college football and college basketball. Besides the Thunder, an ECHL minor league hockey team in Tulsa and a AAA baseball team, there is nothing else going on in Okieland. Therefore the sports writers and population have nothing else to obsess over than OSU & OU.
OSU has nobody but themselves to blame for allowing CMU to hang that close with them for 59 plus minutes. Intentional grounding is a penalty no matter when it happens in a game and when it causes a change of posession, the game does not end.
Such sad and pathetic people that hold onto such unwarranted gruges. What the writers do not want to acknowledge is that their conference is the weakest link in the P5 and they lost to a G5 team. The Big 12 is nothing special in football, hoops yes but football no

Lost in all this, is how silly Rule 3-2-3 is in the first place, in that it allows the game to end on a penalty. I'm not sure why that is. OSU commits an intentional penalty as the final seconds tick off (intentional grounding), and they get the benefit of it?
What if during the final play of the game, OSU player commits the most egregious facemask in history and rips off a CMU player's helmet. "Oh well, nice job, game over"?
Yes, the officials should've applied the rules. But in actuality, the way the game went forward seems the most fair, imo.
Meanwhile, no one on the OSU sideline, Gundy included, knew the rule. Otherwise, you refuse to send your defense on the field and go to the locker room. If the game is awarded to CMU as a forfeit win, I bet it's easier to overturn than actually going through with the play.
