Didn't we just barely beat them last year in Conway? Give uca some credit for giving another instate d1 team all they wanted. History has shown weaker instate teams can win games at home against better teams.

That is why these type of games gin up interest. My guess is that as UCA continues to improve this series will get to be a bigger and bigger thing. That, in and of itself, is good for the state of college basketball in Arkansas.

Agree 100%

A few more games like last night and we'll start seeing packed houses for the LR-UCA rivalry games. That would be a great thing for us, UCA, and basketball in central Arkansas.

Not that it is a direct comparison, but I would point out that we do play what is basically a no-win game for us, because it is good for basketball in the state. I wonder if all the schools in the state do that. Hmmmmm?

That answer is too easy. But it is not a no win game for us. We get two games on the schedule, with even the road game an easy one for our fans to attend. The alternative is to play a road money game and pay around $70K or so for a very low level D-1 to come to LR. As UCA gets better this series will make more and more sense.

By "no win" I meant that if we win we were expected to win; if we lose it is a disaster. Those other folks won't risk a disaster.

All road games are difficult to win, no matter who the opponent is. That is the big reason that the school in NW AR only plays road games they are mandated to play. And they almost always lose those. With the lousy attendance they are getting at home, they are coming up short on the money end too for all the home games they are paying for.

The whole "disaster" thing is what keeps the Chickenhawg policy in effect and is really quite ridiculous. If we had lost last night, the sun would have come up this morning and it would not have caused irrevocable harm to our program. Our fans would continue to be our fans and, if anything it would have likely increased attendance for the UCA game in Little Rock in 10 days. The University of Indiana lost last week to Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne (Who?). Better (?) known as IPFW. Will it hurt the IU program? Not one bit. Will there be an empty seat tonight at Assembly Hall? No, not one seat will be empty. How is not playing instate competition benefiting the chickenhawg basketball program that can't fill a quarter of their arena for nonconference home games? They might actually draw some fans to see LR or ASU.

When we lost to UCA in Football back in September the sun did indeed rise the next day. Most of us yelled at it to go back behind a cloud and curled back up in the fetal position for the next 24 hours, but hey, it did come up.
