No it grew because the teams performed amazingly. Pretty sure aresco doesn't play football or have any control over the teams. Do you think the tv exposer would have happened if our league played at a cusa level?

Any commissioner can get better tv exposer when your leagues teams are constantly beating P5 teams. Not to mention the tv contract is was already signed.

So once again ill ask what has aresco done since 2013? BEH says he should get a raise but for what? What has he done? Its the teams out performing the league not aresco.

As far as i can tell aresco has mostly just gotten lucky. If this league had played terribly resulting in bad tv exposer would we blame aresco?

All i have seen from hims is interviews promising things that he failed to deliver. Then more interviews promising to deliver more revenue but until that happens what has he done?

This is why the MWC has such great TV exposure, since Boise and TCU beat BCS teams all those years.

Well they had great exposure when those two teams shared the conference did they not? Kinda hard to justify it when utah and tcu left.

My point was why should he deserve a raise on top of that 1.6? Not wether he was over paid or not.

On a side note wtf why are they paying bob that much money to act a buffoon? No wonder the big 12 sucks.

RE: Aresco doing work
If you read the MWC or CUSA board, you would find that many of their fans would be thrilled to swap for Aresco.

He has helped in creation of the top G5 conference. Many fans of other conference's schools would agree with that statement.

He will get a "pay raise" for AAC schools when the contract is re-Negotiated. Schools in the conference are providing ammunition to him with media appeal. IMO, this is true while other G5 conference schools will decline in media revenue.

We have the best media exposure of the G5. On Friday, UT and TCU will be on FS1 Friday. Memphis and UH will be on ABC. Prediction: the AAC game will have greater number of viewers than the Big 12 game.

We have the best set of schools in the G5.

We have the best commissioner of any conference.

I would argue the sec, pac-12, and big 10 all have better commissioners but thats besides the point.

The point was not if he was a good commissioner or if he was a smart business man. Your preaching to the choir when you tell me everything has done and how he is better than the rest of the g5. But everything he delivered was in 2013 near the beginning.

The point was what has he done since everything you listed to justify a further raise on top of what he has made. Until he delivers on his promises i would say nothing.

Are they really better commissioners or are they simply blessed with more valuable schools and a larger stage. I'd argue the latter. Like I said, Mike Slive was never half the commissioner Aresco is when he was running CUSA. CUSA never qualified for a major bowl and never had half the exposure of the AAC when Slive ran things.

Probably a bit both honestly. As you pointed out a bad commissioner can screw it up. To maximize value you have to have both good schools and a good commissioner which c-usa never had.

RE: Aresco doing work
Aresco's success will largely depend on what he can do now that the league has established itself. With a round of negotiations coming up for the TV deal in the next few years, he will have his chance to make his mark. These next few years is what he was hired to do IMO. The league has taken a foothold, now growing it up a level is his challenge.

Getting the AAC the top G5 level exposure and getting a raise to a sustainable amount of money is the goal. The AAC should not be making less than the big east basketball only contract.

So for me, the jury is out. I'm cautiously optimistic he can get it done. But if he doesn't, then he would be an abject failure.
