RE: Non Conference Opponents Watch
Notes from the weekend:

* Clemson lost to Notre Dame (# 26 RPI) on Saturday and fell to 1-2 in the ACC, # 33 in the RPI.

* Saint Bonaventure defeated George Mason (# 133) at home on Saturday to improve to 2-1 in A-10 play and # 86 in the RPI.

* ETSU won their 4th straight, this time on the road against Mercer (# 207). They improve to 3-0 in the SoCon and # 111 in the RPI.

* Middle Tennessee won their 3rd straight, @ North Texas (# 295), 2 days after winning @ Rice (# 179). They are now 3-0 in C-USA games and # 18 in the RPI.

* ECU lost their 3rd straight, on the road against Temple (# 46). They fall to 1-3 in the AAC and are # 215 in the RPI.

* Evansville dropped a bad one @ Drake (# 319) on Sunday. They're 1-3 in the MVC and # 193 in the RPI.

* Toledo won their 5th straight in a home game against Miami OH (# 264). They're 2-0 in the MAC and # 100 in the RPI.

* Western Michigan lost @ Akron (# 66) on Friday night. They are 0-2 in the MAC and # 260 in the RPI.

* Radford won @ Presbyterian College (# 338), improving to 3-1 in the Big South and # 137 in the RPI.

* Campbell lost @ Liberty (# 258) and fall to 2-2 in the Big South, # 298 in the RPI.

* Eastern Kentucky continued their struggles this season in a loss at home against Eastern Illinois (# 236). They've lost 6 of their last 8, fall to 6-10 overall against D-I (1-2 OVC) and # 249 in the RPI.

The current rundown for the Seahawks:

* # 25 RPI
* # 90 SOS
* # 46 Non-Conference SOS
* 0-2 vs. Top 50
* 2-2 vs. Top 100
* 11-0 vs. everyone else

RE: Non Conference Opponents Watch
Update on our OOC opponents:

* Both MAC teams we faced in non-conference play squared off last night, with Western Michigan knocking off Toledo at home. It was WMU's first win in MAC play, and Toledo's first loss.

* Saint Bonaventure is @ Richmond (# 138 RPI) tonight. After a lackluster 6-6 start against a mediocre non-conference schedule, the Spiders have gone 3-0 in A-10 play.

* ECU looks to snap a 3-game losing streak tonight in a home game against Houston (# 64).

* Evansville hits the road tonight to face Missouri State (# 174). At 1-3 in league play they really need this one, as their schedule only gets tougher as the season goes on.

* Campbell heads to Gardner-Webb (# 221) in Big South play tonight, while Radford is @ Charleston Southern (# 319).

The Bonnies lost 78-61 to Richmond, ECU fell to Houston by 16, Radford lost a bad one to Charleston Southern, and Evansville lost by 4. Campbell beat Gardner-Webb.

Our RPI is still 25 but our SOS has plummeted to 105.

The ACC is tough, but I'm surprised at Clemson's start. They're looking at a 10 loss conference season all of the sudden. I doubt Brad can survive in that scenario.

ETSU lost to UNCG this weekend as well.

Clemson has had a chance to win most of those games too!

They definitely have. And, the only "bad" loss is to GT (and they're 3-2 in conference now). One negative for Clemson is that there have only been 7 road wins in conference play, and they've already lost twice on their home floor.

Looking at their schedule, I have them at 8-10 to finish the season. I think they lose on the road to Louisville, FSU, Duke, Miami and VT, plus a home loss to FSU. That's 10 losses, and assumes home victories over VT and Cuse, plus a road victory at Pitt.

While they could've won any of the four games they lost, it took a 15-0 run in the last four minutes for them to pull out a 5 point victory against WFU.

RE: Non Conference Opponents Watch
Some updates:

* Saint Bonaventure (# 96 RPI) jumped back into the RPI Top 100 with a win @ Saint Louis (# 246) last night. They improve to 4-2 in the A-10. Next week is big for the Bonnies as they host St. Joe's (# 93) then go to Rhode Island (# 50).

* Clemson (# 42) hits the road for a monster game against Louisville (# 8) on Thursday night. Currently on a 4-game losing streak after winning their first ACC game over Wake Forest, the Tigers really need to start getting some positive results in league play if they hope to be on the good side of the bubble later in the season.

* ECU Head Coach Jeff Lebo is out indefinitely due to hip surgery. One has to wonder at the timing, as the Pirates have lost 5 straight in AAC play (1-5, # 224 RPI). Perhaps the pain was unmanageable, or perhaps ECU latched on to a nice excuse to give him a nice, long break from coaching the team.

* Evansville (# 204) fell to Wichita State (# 76) last night. It's their 5th straight loss, and they're now 1-6 in the MVC.

Our RPI is dropping like a rock. Just wait until we play Drexel, Delaware and JMU at home

4 games against Top 100 teams (Charleston, Northeastern) will help. The CAA is still the 11th-ranked league so we have plenty of opportunities to improve. Gotta look at the big picture there.

However it would help, of course, if our non-conference foes helped us out a bit. MTSU is doing what they need to do (5-game winning streak) and so are Saint Bonaventure and ETSU (won 5 of their last 6), but everybody else is either treading water or falling. Obviously we have no control over that, but it'd be nice.

Evansville completely fell apart once WSU made a run. Evansville was up by 3 at half, and that was after the shockers finished on a 11-1 run to end the half. Then promptly came out and won the 2nd half by 20 for the 17 point shocker victory.

Saint Bonaventure beat St. Joe's tonight at home. They've now won 3 straight and are 5-2 in the A-10. They remain in the RPI Top 100 (# 95).
