RE: Non Conference Opponents Watch
On their board, ETSU fans don't seem optimistic at all about their chances of upsetting Dayton. And I don't blame them. Not only did the Buccaneers struggle to get past non-DI Lees-McRae 6 days ago (before easily beating Limestone 85-57), but on top of that, this is Dayton's home record over the last 5+ years under Archie Miller:
2016-17: 2-1
2015-16: 14-3
2014-15: 17-0
2013-14: 13-4
2012-13: 13-4
2011-12: 14-4
TOTAL: 73-16 (.820)
Their only home loss so far this year was against St. Mary's. They pummelled Austin Peay 96-67 and Winthrop 83-67 in their building in the other 2 home games.

EKU won @ Jacksonville tonight. Their RPI moves up to # 100. That win for us keeps looking better and better.

True that....and I'm one who doesn't particularly like our chances (partially trying for the reverse jinx there). However.....the last time we played them (Dec. 2010) we went into Dayton and ended their 40-game home OOC winning streak.

True! Pre-Archie Miller and all but who cares? That's a tough place to play regardless of who the HC is. Dayton is like the central location of college basketball in this country.
That being said, no reason to be scared to enter that building when you have a talented team. Knock 'em off again!

Tough opponent in a tough location. Hope they shake it off quickly because it doesn't get much easier for them. Two more road games, including one @ Mississippi St, then they return home to face Tennessee.

RE: Non Conference Opponents Watch
Clemson has allowed just 49.3 points per game in their last 3 contests (all wins) against Nebraska, Coppin State and Mercer. Overall they've only given up 64.6 points per game
And on the season, they've turned the ball over just 11.1 times per game compared to 16.4 for opponents.
A disciplined, Brownell-style attack WITH good players is a dangerous one going up against our style of play. We'll need that game to end up with scoring in the upper 70s/80s if we want a shot at coming away with the upset. Keep in mind though that they did beat a good Davidson sqaud 95-78 in a "shootout" type of game back in November.
After a home game against a pretty weak South Carolina St squad, Clemson has a couple tough road tests against Alabama and South Carolina. We'll know a lot more about them after that stretch.

RE: Non Conference Opponents Watch
A couple additional notes:
* Ever since a disappointing 0-3 showing at the Nashville tournament, Evansville has gone undefeated, including a pretty nice win over Boise St. (5-4, # 102 RPI) in the Mountain West/Missouri Valley Challenge. That winning streak should continue on Wednesday night against Norfolk St (0-8) before they face Austin Peay ( on the road on Saturday.
* Another Nashville opponent, Toledo, lost a shootout overtime game @ Marshall (6-3, # 95 RPI), by a 111-105 count on Saturday. That would have been a really nice win, but even so, it's encouraging to see that the Rockets are capable of beating top-100 caliber opponents. In 8 days they'll face a Loyola-Chicago team (9-2, # 140 RPI) that surprisingly got a vote in today's (Dec) 12 AP Poll.

If any of you have DirecTV, Clemson is playing SC State on ESPNU (Ch 208) right now.

Fun to be able to root for Brownell's boys in this one. In 15 days we most certainly won't be!
