RE: Dedric "Double-Double" Lawson
He has the same athletic limitations of Bird, i.e., can't jump and can't run. He needs the 3, or he will eventually be learning to speak a foreign language.

Hell, the Grizz would probably play him at PG.

Assuming he keeps at his scoring pace and Memphis plays two games in the AAC tourney, Dedric would finish his Sophmore season ranked #31.
If he actually stayed all four years, he would easily be the Tiger's all time leading scorer.
And all time leading rebounder.
For some reason, we have certain fans like to really devalue players. Dedric is sorely underappreciated by many...
Except when the team is losing...then it's all on the player.

I wouldn't know, I don't follow the Grizz.

Dedric is what would happen if you put Cedric Henderson's torso on Rodney Newsome's legs/feet.

Not easily. Numbers would project out right there with Keith though.
Would be interesting to see the same two guys holding top and second spots in both categories. Alas, will never happen though.

From a scoring perspective, like I wrote, he would easily break Lee's record.
He would surpass Lee with four games in left in his senior year. This is also taking into consideration playing two games in the AAC and not playing any NCAAt games. Obviously, any runs in the AAC in the next three years or any games in the NCAAt would hasten the breaking of the record.
Just for kicks, if they played two games in the AAC this year, three the next and three his Sr. year and played four NCAAt games total, he would pass Keith with by more than 200 points when all was said and done.
Dedric scored 11 fewer points than Keith as a Frosh but is on pace to outscore Keith as a Soph by about 62 points--meaning he will be 51 points ahead of Keith's pace after their sophomore years.
Rebounding, yes, would be close. Keith had 656 boards through the end of his sophomore year. Dedric is on pace to have about 673.
Keith had 37 double-doubles after his soph year. Dedric has 29 with 16 regular season games left (he has 12 in 15 games this year).

Again, I'm not trying to say Dedric is "better" than Keith, just putting into perspective how incredible his first two years will have been.

RE: Dedric "Double-Double" Lawson
I don't know which player would win in a head-to-head competition or which one will end up helping his team the most, but it's easy to only remember the good stuff from the past and think those days (and people) were bigger and better than they actually were.
Keith was and is my favorite Tiger, but he was just a guy -- very talented guy who played all four years and had something like 2400 points and 1200 rebounds -- but he wasn't superman. Without Turner, I wonder how his last three years would have differed. We all used to think Ohio State beat us because of some big oaf who could barely walk. Now we know their littlest guy was the one with the spunk on the team (actually outscored Oden in that game, too.)
Dedric's a really good college basketball player. He was even good with a bad coach, and now he's better with a good one. I hope he sticks around all four years. With his family entrenched in the Tigers, I think it might go that way. Either way, he's making his mark on this era of Tiger basketball just like Lee did in his. If Bedford and Turner were on this team, we wouldn't be talking about the NIT.
