Scrimmage with NC Tarheels!!!
Quote: University of Memphis basketball coach Tubby Smith said Monday that the Tigers will play a closed-scrimmage against North Carolina.

Smith did not confirm the site or time of the North Carolina scrimmage, but it is expected to be held in Memphis in late October. He said the scrimmage came about because he and North Carolina coach Roy Williams are close.

I need tickets, LOL!!!

Why don't we go ahead and schedule a home and home while we're at it

Why don't we go ahead and ask Good Ole Boy Roy to lobby for Memphis to be invited to the ACC

Tough scrimmage. Those boys are good. Doesn't seem like the kind of move someone planning on mailing it in his first year would make.

We should get a home and home with them, even a one game at the Dean Dome. I think Tommy west got us a home and home with duke because of his relationship with Cutcliff. Remember the ACC, wants to add Memphis

It'll be better than any game actually on our schedule. That's very sad.

Let's schedule one against G. Tech. That's a guaranteed win.

Scrimmage with NC Tarheels!!!
My daughter-in-law is a Carolina grad. I told her a few minutes ago about the scrimmage. She would have really been excited if we could attend. Still, we both thought this was a good thing.

I love this scrimmage. Gives our players a chance to play against high level players and a high level coach.

It pays to have someone in charge who has coached at a high level.

I don't think I've ever seen this much excitement over a closed scrimmage.

I wonder about the formality of these type of scrimmages. I mean, I could see in my mind, Roy Williams and Tubby actually out on the floor, involved physically with the players, telling them where to go, showing body mechanics, whatever. Like stopping play after an opposing player gets by one of our players, and Coach T calls the NC player back over and says "do that move again in slow mo," and then shoving our player all over the place to the correct position, and vice versa with RW. I'm sure that's not what happens, but I like to think it is, and y'all can't prove any different. 02-13-banana

Are you kidding? With the insiders we have on this board, we'll probably have a link to a live feed and a scrimmage thread when it happens. Don't ever doubt the value of having the right connections.

only if he signs someone from close by. However, they will sign 2 for 1s.
