Honest question. Why do fans think an extremely wealthy person would give near unlimited money? There is a limit for everybody where it becomes ridiculous to bear the burden of a college football program. It's not like the NFL where you get an ROI.

If he is willing to do that so be it. I know I wouldn't though.

Sent from my SM-J700T using CSNbbs mobile app

He does it, because he is invested in UH and the city of Houston. He actually is for UH what FedEx pretends to be for Memphis.

Besides, what do you consider "near unlimited" money? The money it would take to make money a non-issue in Herman's decision making is a rounding error to someone like Fertitta.

LOL!!!! Dude they all say that. Brian Kelly loved Cincinnati, loved UC, his wife loved the city, he turned down Nebraska, UCLA and one other school. The Notre Dame opened. He assured everyone he was not leaving. Then he left.

Its life...UH is a stepping stone job as is every other school in the AAC.

The card you're so antsy to play is in no way applicable to the conversation we were having.

Usually I'd say he's gone since LSU is a top tier job. However my gut reaction is that Sherman is staying this time. I think he wants to see this season through, perhaps fight for that Big XII bonus. He can get the A&M or Oklahom job after this season maybe.

A&M is 4-0 and 9th in the country, so doubtful.

This is true. I have it on good authority this is biggest sticking point. The only way we can keep him from UT is by getting in a p5, and even then it's iffy.

RE: Tom Herman to LSU
LSU is a TOP job. No doubt.
If UH gets into the the Big XII I think Herman will stay. He knows in a P5 conference he can play for a Championship EVERY year, even with one loss.
If UH does not get the invite this will be his last year here, unless UH makes the playoffs.
If CTH does go to LSU or USC or some other big time program I am 100% confident with Tilman and Renu at the helm we will get the next Great Head Coach.

Since Pardee and the death of the SWC we only had one major terrible hire (Kim Helton, whose kid is the coach at USC ). Briles was a great hire. Sumlin was a great hire. And as crappy of coach as Levine was we still didn't fall off of a cliff (thanks Mack Rhoades), and now Tom Herman.
If you are a very good coordinator who wants to step up Houston is your first ride on your trip to the stars. You have to be horrible at coaching to not win 8 games here. And if you are the next great coach 11 or 12 wins will be your norm.
I love what Herman has done, but he is not UH football. We will be great even after his tenure ends.
I hope he decides to stay, we get moved up, and together we get a National Championship trophy. But the next Herman is dying to coach here.

Well the good news is that Herman loves dealing with the press, so I am sure he will be more than happy to answer speculative questions about his coaching future during the season.

Houston to P5 and Charlie Strong succeeding would go a long way to keeping Herman.

RE: Tom Herman to LSU
My only argument would be that I don'tk Herman wants to deal with the LSU boosters. He is the kind of guy who likes for it to either be his way or the highway, and I don't see that sitting well with the boosters. Not to mention LSU will fire after 2 years if he can't beat bama. Every coach so far in the sec has been fired becuase they could not beat bama and that has got to be on Herman's mind.

Well, Herman says "unequivocally" that reports he's been contacted by LSU are just internet BS, but he also knows nothing will stop the tweets and reports from "insiders" from saying otherwise.

Its business as usual. - Tom Herman

At least he is trying to keep the distractions away from the players who have something BIG to play for that LSU has no chance for.

Funny thing is Herman is the kind of guy who hates distractions and likes to stay dedicated to the team he is with until the end. If LSU keeps trying to contact him and it starts to cause a distraction he is the kind of guy who would tell them f*ck off and not take the job.

He could end it with one sentence. " I am not going to LSU."

Done over no distraction.

Ya but then that would probably make it worse becuase everyone would just say he is denying it save face. He probably figures by not acknowledging it he can keep it from being a bigger distraction.

So far he said ive not been contacted. He didnt say im not interested or i dont want the job.

I havent been contacted by the dairy whip but i can say im not going there if they do contact me. Distraction over.

Or... He could be willing to listen so that he can come back to UH and say, they're offering $X, giving UH the chance to match.

I'm surprised you're not exploring all the options.

Hells yes we want him gone. Derp

That's sad. You should want your program to rise to our level, not hope and pray for us to fall down to yours.
