He can live in a big city like Austin, recruit close to home, have a much easier route to the playoff, and make more money than anywhere else (Texas is the highest earning program in the nation). Its the perfect fit for a guy with a young family who has a huge and growing Texas recruiting network.

It's like Herman is sexing Melissa McCarthy now and Jennifer Aniston opens the door and says do you want some of this poosy?

I laughed a little harder at Memphis blowing a 20pt 4th qtr lead to Houston last year so I alsmost know how you feel. Good think Houston has had that same laugh since 2006 at Memphis fans expense.

what is ECU's obsession with houston losing it coach

last season it was majority ecu fans saying herman would leave in a second if south carolina offered that he was as good as gone...and literally 1 minute into les miles firing ecu fans are making threads that he is guaranteed in lsu

I just talked to ECU and they don't care who coaches Houston. Now NBPirate ? He might evidently.

I hope Houston keeps Herman and stays in the AAC.

1. Is it the best job in the SEC?

I would argue Alabama and Florida are clearly better jobs. Not only have they produced more titles in the last 20 years, their fans haven't turned on national title winning coaches. Twice. Like LSU fans have.

In addition, Tennessee, Georgia and Auburn have won more national titles historically than LSU.

2. If it's not the best job in the SEC, why would Herman leave Houston for it? He's making $3M a year. Bound to get another raise. He's got a Top 10 team. He's on the verge of making a $5M bonus if UH gets a Big 12 invite. And only 12 out of 70 on the UH travel roster are seniors. He's reloading next year.

Honest question. Why do fans think an extremely wealthy person would give near unlimited money? There is a limit for everybody where it becomes ridiculous to bear the burden of a college football program. It's not like the NFL where you get an ROI.

If he is willing to do that so be it. I know I wouldn't though.

LSU offenses are horrid because they recruit horrid quarterbacks who can't throw.

Poor UH fans. Dream season spoiled with this. Even if he stays the stress over it takes a bit away from the Ws.

I think he'll take it.

I doubt it and their season isn't spoiled.
Cougar Red is right- it's a 2nd tier SEC job, plus you have to live in Baton Rouge.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer team.

LSU, I mean. UH fans have always been alright by Tulane, generally. I'll return the favor.

I doubt Herman is going anywhere. Why would he? For a million more than the multiple millions he already makes? For more stress, and higher expectations? So you can get fired for going 2-2? What has LSU, Texas, Nebraska, or any of the "deep pocket" teams done recently that he hasn't done at UH? What could he do there that he can't do now?

If he goes, he goes. I just hope he has the integrity to finish the season and give his current job the full attention it deserves. We have a history of making good hires. Personally, I'd consider just promoting Orlando (DC) and keeping some continuity.

Imo he leaves for the same reasons David Pierce left Tulane.$ and championship. UH has a much tougher road to NCG. Even Petersen eventually yielded to UW. Thats the world
