RE: Still worth adding NDSU
You could add NDSU and UMass for football only to balance out the divisions. NDSU for the respect, UMass for the market. It's a bit more travel and the money gets split up even further. But could be worth it if we get a guarantee that NDSU expands that stadium or builds a new one. Maybe even play a game or two in Minneapolis.

Still worth adding NDSU
If New Mexico State had beaten Kentucky yesterday, maybe the conference could have re-invited the Aggies and added the Bison to replace the Vandals.
Where NDSU should go is the Mountain West. The Mountain West can make the Bison football only to offset Hawaii being football only, but right now there's not room at the inn.

This. MW is crazy for not adding NDSU. No flash in the pan obviously.

NDSU already thinks they've earned top 25 poll votes and JMU made their bed.
We're fine where we are.
Well, they did. They're ranked 27th in the AP poll.

They have way more exposure than any Sun Belt team .
Two gameday weekend's and a sportscaster were broadcasted there.
They average 19k with no discounted tickets already.
What would they have to gain?
they would be stepping backwards to come to the sbc. for one thing they would probably lose that tv deal because they would not be playing their regional rivals that their tv sponsors sell ads for and would instead be playing a bunch of schools that have no attraction to fans in that part of the country. if they can beat the likes of a ranked fbs team, they would for sure be one of the best sbc teams right at he start. but would a bowl game every year be worth leaving all their old rivalries behind. the mac would be the only viable fit for them. IMHO they stay where they are as the big fish in their pond.

So, not top 25, which is what they were saying on their twitter accounts.

They have two scheduled one in 2020 and one in 2022.
Their A.D. is having a hard time even scheduling other FCS teams in their dome.
They are adding 1200 seats and some suites for SRO will be about 21k.
They move back into their renovated basketball arena this season .
They have an expensive option of raising the roof on one side of their dome and adding six thousand seats.
They might be willing to do it for the MWC or AAC but not the other three G5 conferences.

Are you guys playing today?
Lost by 1 to JSU in Jacksonville. Not sweating it, #4 team in the nation, in their place. And we lost our 2nd string quarterback early in the second quarter
You're FBS now, and lost to an FCS team. Sweat it.
But for real, I have been pleasantly surprised by Coastal this year. When recruiting catches up, y'all should be in a good position for 2018.

They're not FBS yet, they're FCS transitional. How was that year for App? They don't have an FBS team on their schedule. TXST went 6-6 that first year (several FCS loses). Not everyone is going to come out of the transition gate like gangbusters.
It was awful. Worst season in about 20 years, if not more*. I was freaking out because I was wondering if the university had made two huge mistakes: (1) forcing out a truly legendary coach in Jerry Moore; and (2) choosing to go FBS at a horribly wrong time in the course of the program. My fears were intensified the first half of the 2014 season. Fortunately, Scott Satterfield and the team proved my fears to be dead wrong. I do still wish the ending to Jerry Moore's career had been handled more professionally, from all sides, but there's no denying Coach Satterfield is the right coach for us in this still very new FBS era.
Coastal probably will have some growing pains, but I'm a big believer that programs who are in the habit of winning at the FCS level have a better chance at the FBS level than those who are mediocre to bad or those who are startups. A good coach like Joe Moglia certainly helps matters, too.
*We did still manage that W over Ga. Southern, and we retained the Old Mountain Jug for good by beating our most frequently played (and defeated) opponent in Western Carolina.
