I'd rather go with large state schools like odu and charlotte vs Rice. The picks become problematic once we lose members so might as well look pass 10 years.
Agreed. ODU, Charlotte make alot of sense. I still want army as football only....mainly because it increases out chances at Air Force.... and if we get Air Force, then CSU comes after and thats a conference that is still worth some money.
If all else fails, ODU and Charlotte would be better longterm investments then Rice, Marshal, USM and Umass.

Adding these schools devalued the CUSA. They offer no improved value to AAC. No!!

We have a hard enough time getting fans to watch Tulsa and Tulane. Let's not add another attendance killer.

WKU and FIU were the last two adds to CUSA. ODU waited out their offer a bit, but they were high on the list. And Charlotte, despite not even having a football program up and running, was also one of the first adds due to its obvious potential, which it is working towards.
I understand some ECU fans reluctance due to the geographic proximity, but that is one of the things that makes these two schools such attractive targets (besides their current trajectories). Adding reasonable travel partners increases stability and fosters rivalries, which are good for the conference. It's not quite the big 4 in the ACC, but along with Navy, it would create a very solid mid Atlantic hub for the eastern part of the AAC. In addition to expansion plans for football, both schools are invested in basketball, and also bring solid Olympic sports & facilities within a reasonable bus trip of ECU. It will likely make a great deal of sense to the decision makers. Let's see what they think when the time comes.

I'd rather have none of these. Army and AF for sure but that's it. We don't need the others unless we lose 6-8 schools.

Outside of Army on the east coast any school is going to devalue the league. We still need numbers though. The coast to coast makes zero sense without a massive increase in the tv deal.

Let's get real. Adding Charlotte absolutely did not devalue C-USA.
The Florida schools, North Texas and UTSA, Middle Ten, and even Western KY are far less valuable commodities than Charlotte.
UNCC is certainly primed to be a strong G5 school in the coming decades, but by adding Charlotte you are doing so because you're looking 10,20 years into the future.
Can the AAC sustain that in 2016? Don't think so. Especially since UNCC is not exactly loaded with options and leverage points in that respect. They may be more ready during the next expansion cycle, and they'll likely still be sitting in C-USA if the conference doesn't disband.
The AAC has tons of expansion options.
THAT, to me is why it won't happen. Not because there's no value at all.

UNCC is the fastest growing university in the UNC system boasting a 30% increase in enrollment over the last decade, currently 4th largest enrollment in the state, 306 students behind ECU (Link). Where roughly 50%-60% of total growth of the UNC system has taken place over the last 6 years. Let me repeat that 50%-60% of total growth of a 17 member university system has come from one university (Link). As an alum of both ECU and UNCC I would welcome the Niners to the AAC with open arms.

Lol it's so pretty...if only it was completely something that UCF thought of doing on their own. This is the future USTA headquarters in which UCF and a few others happily participate/donate to reap the rewards of playing there

They've played 1 year of FBS football, went 2-10 and 0-8 in CUSA and play in a stadium with a capacity of 15,000. Pump your brakes. Maybe in 10-12 years.
