Now let's just hope we have it.
Don't worry. You are in.
It would be nice to reunite with the Bulls of South Florida again. I remember several nice battles between them and ODU on the hard court back in the 80's during the two schools time together in the old Sun Belt Conference.
ODU also has past conference history in basketball with ECU and Navy during my years following the team.

Just curious why you're always so down on NIU and quick to suggest any CUSA team over us? Not an attack, just curious where the reasoning is coming from

Seriously? I think it would be great, and Va Beach/Norfolk is not really the ECU footprint from a fan and viewer perspective. Recruiting... sure. Because the state line runs right between us a lot of kids within an hour or so of each campus that may normally consider the other school choose based on in state tuition. Va kids go to ODU, NC kids to ECU. ECU gets a lot of pub in Northeast NC but not in SE Va. ODU gets a lot in SE Va, but not much in NE NC. A "border war", a lot of workplace rivalries, easy road trips, recruiting battles to discuss in the offseason, even inter-family squabbles. I think it would be great. Thats what makes it fun. We play each other so frequently any way. Imagine if it were for conference standings instead. That would be exciting. It was good when we were in the CAA together, I'd love to see the ECU/ODU rivalry continue in hoops and get competitive in football.
RE: Why Old Dominion might be the 11th school.....
I was pretty damn bummed when ECU left. I have a lot of ECU friends from living in Kill Devil Hills for so many years. I loved our 1 game and being able to go back and tailgate... and we took 21+ buses with us. Recruiting aside it has the makings of a great rivalry.

I meant for recruiting. There are a few ways to think about this and I'll tell you the two that are on my mind. ODU would provide close, regional competition and a potentially good rivalry. But, strategically, I don't think we could risk becoming peers with ODU in football. Then recruiting becomes a concern.

Valid concern, but once we went FBS this battle already started.. Should we stay in C-USA and develop our program, we'll be fighting for the same recruits in this area anyhow

ODU seems to be still a project school in FBS without tradition.
If they don't get into the AAC it certainly won't be for budget. It will be more for not having any prior national TV ratings ect.

They will make the first cut whereas a lot of the others mentioned over the last week will not

Curious, what would your first, second, and final rounds of cuts be?

Seriously I think it's too early. Unless the B12 does this all in a surprise session we limey looking at September. So the AAC may be responding late fall. As I posted on the SBC board what if we go 2-10? What if we lose 20 MBB games? Also this is a message forum. How seriously are the real people in charge going to pursue membership? Some of us may be disappointed in our own administration. And most importantly who is the AAC losing? That will determine a lot. I mean the SBC just added Coastal to balance Appalachian State.

ODU's upside with our new stadium and our fan base shows "The sky is the limit" Aim High.

I like ODU. I'd post more on the CUSA board along with WKU if flyhawk didn't stalk me and bash my school every chance he gets. ODU specifically has a lot of potential, but i also like WKU and Charlotte
