RE: Season preview
Some of those charts and stats in the middle are really interesting.
"Last year's trends would produce a 10-win season."
Good read.

One of the most in depth analysis I have ever seen of a WMU football team.

RE: Season preview
SB nation does these for every team, and the common theme is that every team is trending up. Nothing in there you didn't already know. But at least it's current in terms of players and he's done some research.

7.6 wins will not be acceptable.

Tell that to Bill Connelly-SB NATION.

If WMU ends-up in the MAC Championship Game, I will gladly accept "7.6" wins.
It is about championships, not win totals. As much as I would enjoy seeing WMU go undefeated, non-conference games do not factor into the MAC Championship (see CMU's 2007 season with its loss at Clemson).
It is time to return to the MAC Championship Game, and win it.

RE: Season preview
Realistically it would be near impossible to reach MACC game at 7-5 unless we lose to NC Central.
Assuming we win that game and lose rest of OOC ones, that means we would be 6-2 in in MAC. Would have to have scenario like last Fall and win tie-breaker(s) then.
And we shouldn't be 1-3 OOC, either.
We've won eight games the last two years with the "young" teams. They're all grown up now and schedule is much more favorable. No way should we take a step back.

RE: Season preview
I would put all of my money on WMU winning more than 7 games next year, barring any major injuries (Terrell, Davis, etc..) or other unforeseen catastrophic circumstances.
Granted, this whole 7.6 number was taken from a computer formula that predicts wins based on strength of schedule, but isn't simply "X will beat Y because X is rated higher than Y". It's a little more complicated. Mainly used to see how a team compares to other teams in their conference. The other expected wins for the MAC were BGSU 7.9, Toledo 7.9, NIU 6.9, CMU 6.5, Ohio 6.5, and the rest are much lower. It should all be taken with a grain of salt. Is Bill C saying that no MAC team will win more than 8 games? No.
FWIW, he ranked WMU #1 in his MAC preseason power ranking.

RE: Season preview
Where does anyone see a loss among these games?:
NC Central
@ Akron
EMU
@ Ball State
@ Kent State
Buffalo
And we'll likely be favored in most of the other games (@ Illinois, GaSo, @ CMU, NIU..possibly Toledo)
The only game I think we will for sure be a dog is the first game of the season at NW. Has a MAC team ever opened as a favorite over a B1G team at their place in the first game of the season? Not saying we can't win that game, but it's unlikely that we'll be favored.

RE: Season preview
I would be disappointed, but also not surprised if we did go 7-5 or 8-4 and win the West. I'm not sure why that's "impossible"
Like someone else said, I don't care what our record is.. just want to win our division and the conference title!

RE: Season preview
9-3. Win the West. Win the MACC to go 10-3. Win the Bowl Game to go 11-3.
Go Broncos.
