I noticed tonight's game was actually close, but break out the brooms... this series is over.

Yep. The 4th quarter was a dagger in the heart of the Hawks.

And that's conference finals, not division finals, and even then, the grand total grows to 1/13 games.

Big Raptors win in Miami to take 2-1 lead in series.

Will the Blazers win a game with no Curry?

Yes they will. Cavs go for the broom today.

EDIT: Cavs sweep for the second series in a row. 8-0 in playoffs. Punch ticket to conference finals.

Goodness, it must suck to be a Hawks fan. Even when they're good, they disappoint. Heck, it must suck to be an Atlanta fan in general. Thank goodness for the underachieving Braves (they should have won way more World Series under Cox). They had the only 1 seeds in NBA history that shouldn't have been taken seriously as title contenders (1994, 2015).

I thought Houston had it bad.

Hawks fans, such as they are, don't have high expectations. But the being non-competitive for two straight seasons against the Cavs had been trying.

As for the Braves, I can only remember one other season where I thought they should have won the pennant, 1991.

RE: 2016 NBA Playoffs
Seeing how they made 14 straight playoff appearances, about 5 World Series and had one of the best rotations ever, 1 title was a major disappointment.

The Braves are the only major sports team in Atlanta that has ever proved worthy. Although they stink at the moment, they have for the most part remained competitive even in down seasons since 1991.

The Falcons and Hawks are unfortunately pretty worthless franchises for fans to care about that never seem to do much of anything even when they have talent.

Falcons had a couple of one and done seasons, and went 40 some-odd years before ever putting together back to back winning seasons.

Hawks just never win beyond first round no matter what.

At least the Braves, although they should have won more than one WS, were very good and enjoyable to watch for many, many of the years post 1990. The Braves will be good again in another year or two, just like Cubs and Royals.

And LeBron will be the half-truth once again in the Finals. To be honest though, the Warriors haven't played a legit team in the Western Conference in the last 2 years except the Rockets and that's just the homer in me speaking.

Well, he had a half-team in the finals last year too. This year, everyone is healthy and there are many scoring weapons that have taken the pressure off Bron. He can help create the offensive flow instead of being the main cog to score. In any event, still games to be played to determine the finals' opponents.

Last year's Rockets. If they win one of those games in Oakland like they nearly did, it's a different ballgame.

Father Time is the assist leader for OKC/SA series. The Spurs just look old and Lamarus is having a terrible series.

The spurs two wins have come after 3+ days of rest. The Thunder's 3 wins have come after 1 full day of rest. No surprises there.

But the biggest difference has been our commitment to defense. The Thunder have always been a good defensive team, but this season they decided that defense wasn't important and it showed in all facets of that side of the ball. Even against the Mavs we played lazy transition defense and often let them get whatever they wanted, especially Felton. Same thing with game 1 against the Spurs. Then all of a sudden they decided to flip the switch and play active defense. They started challenging everything and decided to hustle on transition defense. Their athleticism has always wreaked havoc on the Spurs offense, but their lack of focus and dedication rendered that advantage moot. But when you combine this rededication to defense with their superior rebounding skills it makes a big difference. The twin towers of Kanter and Adams are just assaulting the Spurs on the boards.

And one problem for the Spurs is what to do with Duncan. On the one hand he's their best interior defender, capable of keeping Westbrook from wreaking havoc in the paint. But he's also their worst offensive big and when he's on the floor it can clog everything up. So the only other options are use Diaw and West together or pair Aldridge with one of them. That makes for better offense, but it opens up the paint for Russ and also means Adams, Kanter and Ibaka don't have to run around the perimeter chasing a smaller player. This is where the Thunder could run into big trouble if they manage to get to the next round. The Warriors don't play two traditional bigs, which makes Donovan's job more complicated. But one problem at a time...
