RE: March Madness
Holy Cross pulls the upset and earns a trip to Dayton next Tuesday or Wednesday. Lehigh's center is Tim Kempton, whose dad battled for playing time with Brian Rowsom on the early Charlotte Hornets teams.

RE: March Madness
Crazy stuff. Holy Cross won 0 road games all season long in conference and then pulled off 4 in a row. Lehigh came out as flat as could be scoring a mere 14 points in the first half before a much better second half that just fell short. Certainly the NIT could be a good one this year since the best of many of the mids conferences will be there and will be ready to upset the medicore power teams.

It's been a tough championship week for the tribe and their NIT chances. 9 auto bids to the NIT are being used, 10 if Wichita doesn't get in to the NCAA, 11 if St Mary's is left out, plus we still have several more that could be (MEAC, SWAC, BIG SKY, Southland, CUSA, Sunbelt, MAC, Big West) . Tough break for the tribe.

Not great days for former UNCW guys. Tuesday night Donlon's Raiders get bounced, last night Brownell's Clemson team blows 18 point lead and gets bounced from a Tourney(sound familiar?)

Another 1 seed lost today in the CUSA. UAB joins the long list of regular season champions using auto NIT bids. Really a tough break for the Tribe. Hopefully they can go to the new Vegas tournament or the CIT/CBI because they are a good team that deserves a post season

RE: March Madness
Bizarre year for sure, like many have said all along about no real favorite. It is almost a curse this year to be a top seed based on how results have gone so far. There are always upsets but to be nearly across the board of top seeds losing is remarkable.

Your right Dan,

I cant remember a year when only 1 #1 seed has won a tournament with only 4 days left to go.

RE: March Madness
Here is how the NIT picture looks using RPI. I used bracket matrix to determine the field of 68. *=Auto Bid

1 Seed: Princeton (39), Tulsa (49), Florida (51) Valparaiso* (53)
2 Seed: Monmouth* (56), Hofstra* (58), Michigan (61), Davidson (62)
3 Seed: George Washington (63), Georgia Tech (65), UC Irvine (66), William and Mary (67)
4 Seed: Syracuse (68), Georgia (70), IPFW* (71), Houston (72)
5 Seed: Alabama (73), BYU (74), Ohio St (75), Florida St (77)
6 Seed: Washington (78), Stanford (80), Ohio (81) UAB* (82)
7 Seed: Fresno St (83), Virginia Tech (84), East Tenn St (85), Belmont* (97)
8 Seed: High Point* (157), North Florida* (161), Bucknell* (183), Wagner* (185)

So if you use the rankings, teams like William and Mary, Ohio, and ETSU will get in while teams like Mississippi, Clemson, and Marquette do not. We will see if that actually happens.

But IMHO, William and Mary should be in the NIT even if the remainder of the one seeds lose this week.

It's that time of year again, maybe this is what needs to happen.

Hope you all get a great seed and have a deep run in the NCAA. Palmer on CBSSports.com consistently has you as a #12 seed with some potential match ups that are good fits for you style of play! It would be a blast for you to make the Sweet Sixteen!

Haha. Thanks WMMII! That comment was all in jest though, as I really can't see any WM fans or Williamsburg residents doing something like that.

RE: March Madness
Florida Gulf Coast looked impressive in their dominant play-in win last night. If we're going to have our first 16 over 1 upset in tournament history this year, I think they have the best shot of the 4 going up against UNC.

I also have Wichita St beating Arizona. Had that before last night's win, and feel even more confident about the pick now. Their defense is suffocating. They only allowed 20 points to a decent Vanderbilt team in the 2nd half.
