There are times when you have to throw good money after bad money.

I heard that when the new football guy bolts, they'll move those games back to the middle of the track just outside the fieldhouse. That way, you can keep your same tailgate spots for both sports.

Coincidence?
The paper needs to check its math
The paper says 17 home games.
Not checking math, but checking denominators.
Also, I counted games including exhibition and counted 18. They screwed up their math dividing 1818 by 3, trust me.
The CA says the avg attendance has been 5889, not the 5899 which is used in the thread title. That puts us at 111 under for 18 games, or 1998 for the year. 1998/3=666.
Yep, the initial number in thread was wrong

So, we've gotta give 10% of the seats away for the final 3 games just so we can get to 6K average attendance for the year? Sweet.

Can we afford to keep him?
Which is worse?
Losing out on an $800,000 payment or forking out $10.6 Million (for fire Pastner) AND another $10 Million - $15 Million to hire an EXPERIENCED HC?
$800,000 looks to be the least expensive alternative.

dont know if we need to start this argument again.
But how is holding up your part of the contract and expecting the other party to do their part of the contract a lack of integrity?

I want Pastner to step down, as well, but making the university honor a poorly thought-out contract is not due to a lack of integrity. I don't believe, if it came right down to it, anybody on this board would willingly forego millions of dollars contractually owed to them just for appearances sake. I know I wouldn't. Unfortunately, Pastner has not proven to be an effective HC for a high D-1 program, despite what I believe have been his best efforts. IMO, we should just leave it at that.

That's crazy. No matter how much you want him gone, Noone with integrity is walking away from $2.6M based on that.

By no means would I walk away from it they have to pay the man.
That being said josh is always speaking about integrity, and accountability. Wishful thinking that a person who talks so much about these things would put their literal money where his mouth is. Once again, he'd be foolish to do so, but he obviously has no shame.

RE: Just announced: Tigers average 5,899 a game
The next story I want to see in the CA is how this !#$@1 contract ever got signed. I understand and appreciate the clarity re: the contract so far, but I want to know how. How the @5#$@% grown-___ men, adults, allowed this thing to get signed. Supposedly billionaires and experienced people. Lawyers undoubtedly involved from all angles. And no one stood up and said "Are we sure we want to give this relatively young guy the best contract in college basketball history ?" ... "Are we sure we want to leave ourselves absolutely no down-side mitigation in this contract ?" ... "I understand we want to keep him and pay him very well, but are you rich, successful businessmen aware that if anything goes awry we'll be in the worst position financially of any school in college basketball contract history ?" ... and then who said "YES" to every one of those questions. And why. And don't just tell me "they thought they had the next big thing" ... they could've kept him under that impression for a lot less risk on the down-side and he would've still signed it. Unless I'm missing it and Pastner actually specifically threatened to leave unless this exact situation was agreed to contractually, which I'd find highly unlikely.

Like you I've been trying to figure out why they would make such an unbalanced deal. I would really like to know too.

Its almost like Pastner and/or his attorney had the "goods" on Bowen...as there was never any urgent need to give him a raise from $850,000 to $2.65 Million and guarantee it for 6 years.
Bowen certainly didn't read this book:
