Cue the Imperial March
This should be a light event ... but rounds 2 and 3 will be coming at the back half of the week.

I have lived in both regions....
Southerners are pu$$ies when it comes to any winter weather. During my first winter storm in the south (literally less than a quarter inch) I felt like I was in the movie 28 Days Later, being the only person on a highway that was consistently bumper to bumper at rush hour.
I don't know of anything shutting down due to heat and humidity in the north.

Looking like the standard winter storm here. Rain, then freezing rain, then sleet, then snow. That way all the dumb*** Yankees who think they "Know how to drive in the stuff" and "It's only an inch. No big deal" can boost the local tow services business by getting their cars pulled out of the ditch/trees/median cables because the inch of snow isn't the problem it's the 1/4 inch of ice underneath it.

People who wreck in ice and/or snow are dumbasses no matter where they're from. My philosophy is that these are the same idiots that tailgate, drive slow in the left lane, don't use signals, etc, etc. I've lived in areas that get hardly any snow/ice and I've lived in Edmonton, which gets a shitload. And no, they don't plow it all that much. You've basically got to dive on a 2-3" compacted sheet of snow, ice, dirt mix. It just takes driving with a little common sense for the most part.

Louisville is said to get 12+ hours of snow & sleet today for around 8 inches of snow. This on top of 2 inches from Wednesday. Winter is here. Now let's watch the dumb***'s.

So much for what weathermen know. School was canceled & government buildings closed today & all we have gotten so far is a dusting.

RE: Cue the Imperial March
My neck of the North Carolina woods has gotten around 6 inches of snow/sleet thus far. Pretty much shut the area down today. Forecast calls for an additional 2-3 inches of snow by Saturday afternoon when the storm should clear out to the north and east. Feel bad for folks south and east of here that are experiencing some freezing rain that may cause power outages.

Didn't get much wind here but several periods of very heavy rain.
