A lot of the one's that gave up their tickets want Gregg Marshall as our coach. They would be the ones calling for his head right now at 2-4.

I'll take him in a New York minute over Pastner. A final 4 and an unbeaten season.

That was too easy

Marshall would be undefeated with this team right now and AN would still be here!!

Well, it's only Marshall's fault he didn't recruit these guys. Just using MTO logic here.

I am not saying he would not make us a good coach when and if we replace Pastner. All I am saying most of the posters here would be calling for his head. He is 2-4 and was beaten by Tulsa by 10 and Iowa by 23. Plus he has lost 3 in a row.

"That was too easy".

Well we know your ilk wouldn't. Y'all are satisified with a round of 32 exit being the ceiling here.

Too easy

Faulty logic - he wouldn't be 2-4 here.

For all of the positives of Wichita - paying him a big contract, private jet, Koch support, etc. - he still has issues recruiting good talent there. It's not an ideal league for high caliber talent to flock to.

Memphis would be another story - as an writer wrote a few years back - Gregg Marshall would be a perfect fit here - "Memphis is Wichita on steroids."

Dedric is without a doubt the most skilled player 6'8" plus we have had SINCE Penny. This means after Penny. I posted this last winter after seeing him up close vs #1 Oak Hill.

He can take off and dribble the floor and do a crossover and then a finger roll bucket.
He can also get a little sky hook on post up that he hasn't used much.
He can drive hard to hoop and not get bullied.
He can shoot the 3. Maybe 38-40 percent range once he settles down and improves shot selection.

No other comparably sized player since Penny could do those things. He will have ups and downs as a high school college freshman and needs to quit dominating the ball and let the O come to him. He will be a star.

I noticed against LA Tech he did that two or three times and wondered where that had been through the first few games and hope he will continue to use that move more often.

Why are some of you so eager to defend your faulty logic that you'll use any thread, regardless of its stated purpose, to disparage the current coach of the Tigers?

Maybe we just like guys that have had REAL success instead of a coach who's team underachieved its ranking 6 straight years ?

Maybe because we know these players would be so much better and achieve so much more if Pastner wasn't the head of it.. But what do I know I dropped my season tickets and only watched them play 1/2 of a game this year..

One thing Penny had that Lawson is nowhere near is athleticism...

This is why Lawson will be back next year and probably the following year as well.

Why does everyone keep comparing to Penny? OP said SINCE Penny; I said same. Penny is a first team all NBA player and a once in 10 years point guard. Simmons at LSU may be one too.

Dedric is just a dang good freshman.

Look at the bright side. At least we're not 2-4 Wichita State.

A lot of the one's that gave up their tickets want Gregg Marshall as our coach. They would be the ones calling for his head right now at 2-4.

Make that 17-6 Wichita, 1st place in the Missouri Valley, ranked 25th and Lunardi has them as a 7 seed.

Does a win over Emporia State even count?

Not sure, but he's about to go to his 5th straight NCAA tournament at Wichita State. He's coming off 3 30 win seasons, a Final Four, and a #1 seed. And he's done it without one single McDonald's All-American and not many 4-5 stars, if any.

Any other questions about his resume?

Another example of recruiting rankings gone bad. Maybe no 5 stars, but one of the best backcourts in college basketball. I think Marshall jumps to a big job this year, because he knows he never gets another backcourt like that at WSU. But the job won't be Memphis.

I won't be surprised.

I think he's discovered that no matter how many 30 win season he strings together at Wichita that recruiting will always be a challenge for whatever reasons.

You really think Nichols would have left if we were a perennial sweet sixteen team, and his NBA stock were on the line, whatever the reason is he left?

I don't.
