Oh my god!! Yeah, that had to be so EXCRUCIATING for you. I'm so sorry to have put you through the misery and torture of a small, and in my case rare, grammar mistake on an internet forum!!

My God kindly bless and have mercy on you and yours.

NCSU has already played at ODU and VT is going there (twice), so it's not unprecedented.
I agree but damn, he hasn't scheduled a P5 opponent since he's been here.

Who is he? Compher? Florida, South Carolina, extended NC State series right after he got here, BYU is still a great series though not P5

Can live with ODU. Don't like the Western and A&T games. Better options are out there.

A&T I totally agree. FBS teams have no business playing MEAC schools. Western I don't know, I think Southern Conference schools are fine to play as cupcake games, especially if you have a good schedule otherwise - I mean we do play State, @USC, @VT afterward, it's not like we're NC State this year.

Plus I think Compher's doing their Athletic Dpt. a favor considering his previous connections. Bama has played them in multiple sports over the past decade. I'm not saying that's the reason why it's ok for us to play them, I'm just saying we're not the only ones that play them.

Having good relations with other unc system schools is a good thing politically. As long as we don't pull a UNC and have two fcs on the schedule. Although it doesn't seem to be hurting. Their ranking at all.

I don't think we should schedule any sun belt or CUSA teams hm and hm. Plenty of other schools who would play us in Greenville. If we can get 7 homes games why not do it. Some A5 conf teams have 8 homes games for goodness sakes. No need to go to Norfolk. The recruits up there can drive to Greenville in just over 2 hours.

This conference is getting pretty darned tough. I think 2 games you should win most every year need to be scheduled in the non conference. I've got no problem with it. Plus two A5 teams makes a balanced schedule and gives you a shot at a bowl most years.

Can ECU afford to buy G5 games like that? The alternative is FCS games.

UNT brought 7,000 fans. ECU doesn't need the attendance boost but UNT brought more than any G5 school we have

Weve got a transfer at ODU right now so 2018 would probably be the earliest we'd play them

We have the means to buy games, yes. I agree that we need to limit visiting CUSA or similar schools. 2 for 1 at most.

The fact is, that isn't happening - even in the ACC. That should show you that it isn't going to happen. What the hell does ODU have to gain by scheduling a 2 for 1 with us when we aren't going to pay them enough to counteract the profit of a home game when they expand their stadium?

What's going to happen is we're going to schedule CUSA schools to home and homes that we feel are beneficial to play, like we have with Marshall and ODU. The benefits to playing ODU are obvious, and I think it's pretty clear that this probably isn't going to be the only H&H we sign with them in the coming years.

And for the record, there is absolutely nothing about our history that would tell you that we've got the means to buy games every year with FBS schools. We've NEVER done it.

Do you really think we'd play a South Alabama or La-Monroe home and home?

We have a P5 sized stadium and P5 attendance. We get to act like it.

Yeah, tell that to NC State who has a H&H with South Alabama and Troy - and for the record has a 2 for 1 with ODU only because they've got a 19k seat stadium. Tell that to Virginia Tech who has a 7 game series with ODU - the only extra game in Blacksburg coming before they expand the stadium.

You're simply off base here.

EDIT: I'll add that our "leg up" in negotiations is that we get to choose who we want to have H&H's with, because essentially any G5 school in east of the Mississippi would absolutely love play us, and many on the west coast may too. That's our leg up. Our leg up at this point, alongside every AAC, MWC, and many P5 schools, is NOT that we get to go 2 for 1 with CUSA schools because we have bigger facilities. That isn't how it works.

Technically the NCST series was a 1 & 1 and a separate buy game. We wanted another H&h but they didn't want to due to stadium size but they didn't sell their allotment when they did visit.
