Most of our older rivals like La Tech and others have been defunct series for years now. Memphis just stopped our series. It's why our administration is trying so hard to turn the ULL game into a rivalry...because there's just no one on our schedule for our fans to hate right now, and thats a problem.

I know this will never happen, but say UALR had a football program. Would you guys be huge rivals?

It's just the same ol' Memphis....just a new year.

You jinxed it calling it early. Thought you might have learned from the Mizzou game

LOL.....I think you're right. But I was bored.
I guess you'll never forgive me for that Missouri loss.

No repentance no forgiveness.

Wait a second...I was in that Fresh Market a few days ago, and saw a guy there and my first thought was "Haha, He looks like Memphis Drew"

You mean to tell me that was actually you?

Yup!

I'm really surprised at that. That is counter to the whole Apple work philosophy (or what I thought it was).
I guess they've become too mainstream....just like the other corporate giants. Sad....I know where that leads.

Apple retail is NOT run like Apple corporate...it started that way...but not anymore.

I always liked playing Ark State. Pull for them to win on a casual basis, as in I'm glad they won, but don't follow them in any detail. Surprised the Red Wolf fans see it as a more heated rivalry.

Casual Memphis fans were on our board after the game to see if we were talking about it. That's not something casual interest people do.

RE: Same ol' Memphis football
I don't see it as heated. I won't switch channels if I see on the score crawl that Memphis is behind to watch a loss. Memphis from time to time plays games where I'd prefer to see Memphis win.

So that's not "heated".

Only time I ever took great delight in Memphis losing to someone other than AState was the NCAA championship game and that was as much about Cal getting force fed crow over his comments on poor free throw shooting as anything.

Some are less casual than myself I guess. To be fair I haven't lived in Memphis since the late 80s, and I really haven't had any interaction with Ark St fans where I have lived since.

The heated comments were based on what I was reading in this thread. Some Red Wolf fans really don't like us it seems. I'm not looking to dissuade any of them, they can dislike whoever they want as much as they want, I was just surprised by it is all. Pointless to argue that kind of stuff anyway as sports are inherently emotional.

FWIW, I read all the active conference boards on this site as well as the Cincy and UAB boards (I pull for them to win casually too)

Honestly 72, it's more of me gigging Drew. Since it was the only game on, I figured I could summon him fairly easy. It worked.

I'm not sure Houston is bigger than Atlanta. The city limit population is different in cities. Atlanta isn't that populated compared to other major cities if you just take the population of what's considered the city of Atlanta. Most population measures of Atlanta include the metro area which is over 6 million. So I'm not sure how they measure others. Not trying to debate you only I thought Atlanta was bigger than Houston. I may indeed be wrong.

They're having a great year. No doubt.
But odds were with me in talking smack to them. These years are few and far between for the tiggers.

I've been telling the Memphis grads I work with that the end is nigh since early September. Eventually they'll lose, it's the Memphis way

Drew will be around shortly with the details of Fuentes extension proposal. But even he wants out of that god-forsaken city.
