5 in Jonesboro
4 in Memphis

We have been MORE than fair with ASU, and we will play again...in football and hoops

We'll take football, but I think we gave up hoops a few years back.

I'm really surprised at that. That is counter to the whole Apple work philosophy (or what I thought it was).
I guess they've become too mainstream....just like the other corporate giants. Sad....I know where that leads.

I attended my first Tigers football game in 1965. Maybre I don't consider it a rivalry since ASU and Memphis didn't play at all from 1954-1974 when I was growing up in Memphis and during my "formative" sports years.

You can call it a rivalry if you want to from the ASU perspective, but I don't know any Memphis fans who feel much of anything about it.

Not sure that Memphis has many real rivalries in football, mainly because for years football was just an afterthought to basketball for many fans.

I'm sure it's a great rivalry, by the way, and no disrespect intended. But for those of us who don't follow either program (I'm paying more attention now), it's not one that first comes to mind when you talk about college football's great rivalries.

My own personal top 5: 1. Carolina-Clemson; 2. GS-Appy; 3. GT-UGA (Go Tech): 4. Carolina-UGA; 5. Army-Navy.

Most of our older rivals like La Tech and others have been defunct series for years now. Memphis just stopped our series. It's why our administration is trying so hard to turn the ULL game into a rivalry...because there's just no one on our schedule for our fans to hate right now, and thats a problem.

Problem is that from what it looks like, we don't play next year. Now, we may very well become permanent cross over rivals once CCU comes in, but until the league designates that, it's hard to develop a rivalry from scratch without consistent games between the two.

If you ask me, I honestly think our administration intends for App State to become a pretty nice rivalry, but it takes time
