The C-USA championship game will be against 12-0 Old Dominion with the same result as the first meeting between the Owls and the Monarchs, a game winning Monarchs field goal. That last second victory sends the Monarchs on to a semi-final win against Ohio State (dubbed the Battle of the Banners) and finally a national championship win over the Hokies (The Virginia Showdown).
You guys are insane, I'll tell you what is actually going to happen...Marshall is going to go undefeated going into the WKU game. After another high scoring game, disaster strikes MU in triple-OT. QB Birdsong gets his leg broken on a QB draw, but he pulls a Byron Leftwich and scores the winning drive to finish the game 75-72...(memorable isn't it). After this outstanding performance, Marshall is put in the spotlight. Everyone is pulling for the little Cinderella team from Huntington. After Marshall beats UTEP in the C-USA Championship in a come from behind victory, 7-3. QB Litton has a rough start, but scores the winning TD in the fourth quarter to put the Herd on top.
After putting a 7-5 Notre Dame in the playoff instead of undefeated Marshall, fans all around the country are outraged. Media pressure forces the playoff committee to admit that money and ESPN have been swaying their picks all along. After this is admitted, the Coaches and AP polls are used to determine the playoff. Final results...
1. Ohio State
2. Texas
3.TCU
4.Marshall
In the first game of the playoff, Marshall upsets the Buckeyes 35-24. This leads to the national championship where they will face Texas for the title (This leads to the plot of the movie "Two Tickets to Paradise"). It's a hard-fought game, but Marshall edges Texas because of Chase Litton's 278 yds passing and 4 TDs. The true Cinderella team had won it and America was ecstatic. You would think the season ends there, but...
In an experiment by the NFL to boost sales, the NFL champion New England Patriots host Marshall University in Gillette Stadium. The game is rough and many third string players are needed for Marshall, but against all odds, they pull of the upset of the century proving Doc Holiday's recruiting power.
MU is thrown into glory as in the off season, the ACC invites them as a football-only member along with the University of Cincinnati.
Enough of my spot-on predictions for one day.
