The Menominee kid has legit size. He has a few highlights against opponents that have really solid programs and he looked the part against them. Could be a real steal of the class.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread - 2017
Final update to this list prior to NSD
post Cotton Bowl targets and commits.

Brevin Harris-WR undeclared
Tyron Arnett - WR NSD announcement
Justin Ellis - DE undeclared
Casey Rogers - DE/TE undeclared
Jaylen Hall - WR undeclared
Corvin Moment SS BRONCO COMMIT
Zenden Dillinger OL BRONCO COMMIT
Ali Fyad- DE BRONCO COMMIT
Reece Goodard- QB BRONCO COMMIT
Josh Grant- K BRONCO COMMIT
Mohammed Elazazy- OT BRONCO COMMIT
Tim Omara - OL BRONCO COMMIT
Kaiser Carlton - RB BRONCO COMMIT
Ryan Lezzer - ATH BRONCO COMMIT
Jack Knipper - LB BRONCO COMMIT/Walk On?
Tanner Mathias - TE/DE BRONCO COMMIT
Izaak Gerkis - P BRONCO COMMIT/WO?
Alex Pihlstrom - TE WO
Brendan Siwajek - DL WO

This is a compilation of known commits and walk ons (preferred or not) since Jan 2. hoping a couple WRs go our way Wednesday. Not sure why Casey Williams (ATH) hasn't gotten an offer? (21st 247Sports, Freep All-Division team-D8, Saginaw News player of the Year 2016, Mlive December top 50 recruits). State Champs on FSD had him as a top 5 available recruit. Don't know the kid, never seen him play, just baffling that a seemingly talented player has no notable offers, except from Fleck a year ago.

In looking at his senior hi-lights, he is a extremely good blocker on offense.

On defense, for his his size, he turn the corner quickly and rushes the passer for a loss or for a hurry.

6'4", 240 and agile are good qualities for an end.

Overlooked or bypassed. Time will tell.

Any of you other older Broncos remember Willie Barrios from our 1988 championship team? He MAY have been a one star recruit, if he had any rating at all. Came aboard as a preferred walk-on as I recall. Willie earned his way to a scholly with his hard-hitting as a Safety.

MAC all star LBer and future NFL All Pro John Offerdahl came to WMU only as a partial scholarship recipient. He was 'too thin' as a HS senior.

If Lester and Moreland like this young man that is good enough for me.

I'm no recruiting guru (obviously), but can you still sign folks after NSD? I know that the big schools (Uncle Urban), etc, over-sign kids and then 'drop' the most expendable. Would it be wise to have a few schollys in hand for that? Some last minute bargain hunting. Just asking because of Lester's late start (from behind the eight ball), we may have a few spots to spare.

Yes you can. Our very own Keion Adams was one such player.

It won't be in a couple of years.

Brayden Smith is now going to Indiana Wesleyan instead of WMU.

Was his offer possibly pulled or never re-offered by new staff?

I remember them. Offerdahl was a beast, one of the most instinctive LBs you will ever see. Went to the Senior Bowl and stopped Bo Jackson on the goal line - twice. Miami drafted him in the second round and he picked up right where he left off at Western, making tackle after tackle. There is a long list of players who ended up being great players in college without the fanfare coming out of high school. That said, I would rather have a class of 25 three-star prospects. I think the chances of success are a little better, even if the ratings are not very accurate.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread - 2017
Finding guys who are driven in college, with a vision quest to be great football players after they get here, is the key. Sometimes those guys are the big physically talented players, and sometimes they are the smaller, less physically gifted guys who have a chip on there shoulder. Those are the ones who stand out for there grit, hard work and typically leadership. But that attitude can be found in very physically talented players too. But those super talented players can also come in taking things for granted, and without the understanding that they need to prove something as soon as they get to practice the first day, and every day thereafter.

Offerdahl, Davis and Barrios were great Broncos, no argument there. However, the meat and potatoes of a solid football program are talented athletes. Draftnik88 is correct, give me 25 three stars and I'll take my chances. If Fleck were still here we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread - 2017
I think overall, I am pretty pleased with this year's class considering the extreme circumstances Lester and co. had to work with (assuming they all sign tomorrow). We basically lost 9 of our best recruits to Minnesota at the eleventh hour. That's very tough to recover from. With less than 30 days to recover, we held on to handful of good looking prospects -- at least a dozen with multiple G5/P5 offers by my count. Yes, there are a few questionable ones mixed in there but who knows how they'll pan out. 2018 class will be the real test.

Very true.

Let's not lower our expectations because we like the new guy.

I don't know, but there was an article recently that mentioned he wanted to play both BBall and Football in college. So maybe he just went somewhere he could play both.

Last I heard Harris was a solid commit to Wyoming.
