RE: Official Recruiting Thread - 2017
I would guess the others that visited will be staying in this class with maybe the exception of Chapman. We have some nice linebackers in this class though.
Most the kids who visited last weekend have WMU on Twitter as the school they are attending.

Blessed to receive an offer from Western Michigan!!
What kind of recruit is Justin? I see he's a pretty big defensive line kid... what kind of "stars" we looking at here. Can't find him on scout.
Doesn't appear to be rated. Offered mainly by teams in the south. Georgia Southern and Troy among them. Good size. Haven't looked at any film yet.
I just watched 45 seconds and I would take this kid on my team all day every day
Woah, what a motor this kid has. I'd take him in a heartbeat. I watched some of his highlights, and I especially like the one where he's blocked by the OT and RB and proceeds to drive them both back into the QB.
Quick and strong. He'd make a great OLB or edge rusher.
He was named 1st team all state in Georgia. No small feat. Lot of talent down there.
Strange that he doesn't have a profile on any of the regular recruiting sites.

Marcus Hayes was also supposed to enroll early. Is he on the fence or still on board to enroll?

Coby Bryant offered. Has offers from Cincy, Marshall and others
247 says he has an official visit already lined up too on the 20th. They seem to think we have a good shot. This would be a nice get.
It's encouraging to see the staff recruiting hard. I hope we continue to go hard after kids with top G5 and low P5 interest.

6' 3" and 240 for a HS SDE is 'undersized'? He'll pack on 20# in 2 years and be a monster pass rusher as a junior. Did you see him drag that QB to the ground with one beefy arm????

Why does he only have 1 offer from a 1AA university. Does he have grade issue, attitude problems? any 3 star should have a few more offers unless he is injured and we bank that he bounces back well

He has 9 offers according to 247. Not all these sites are updated.

Lol - yes, he's undersized. First, it's high school football so you have to subtract 2" and 20 lbs off the roster stats. Second, he's going up against 6' 3" linemen that are 3" taller than him. Math doesn't lie.
No matter...as you said, he'll bulk up in college and he'll be a stud. I'm just glad that he doesn't have a ton of other offers (which is further proof that he's undersized).
This is the type of recruit that we'll have to focus on to help rebuild this class. Slightly undersized and overlooked kids that will shine when coached up.

I don't care what his size is. Ellis shows technique, strength, and speed when he chases down a back from a long way. Kid knows how to use leverage. As our old coach use to say, "he looks like a hungry dog".
I hope Lester and company can land him

I thought he retired?
Nicely done, sir. Took me a minute... I actually had to say it out loud.
With regard to the topic at hand, hopefully we can land both these kids!

RE: Official Recruiting Thread - 2017
Our recruiting Rank in the MAC has gone down to 4th. Huge drop from #1 in the mid-majors to #4 recruiting class in the MAC. With as many recruits as we had that decommitted, does anyone see this recruiting class getting back to at least #1 in the MAC.

24/7 has us at #4
Scout has us at #2
There's still a lot of talent in this class, even though the top half was pilfered. Add a few more decent players and this class will again, on paper, be near or at the top of the MAC.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread - 2017
Be careful looking at those rankings, They are based on # of recruits and how good each is. We have more 3 star kids still then the others in the conference, however them having 24 to our 15 makes the difference. Quantity does outweigh Quality to some extent in that ranking. No need to fill up if we don't get the best kids, I think somebody said you can only give out 25 scholarships per year, but you don't have 100 available scholarships. I would rather save some of them for next year and we can get the kids we want rather then bring in kids for the sake of having a full class.
