Forbes Magazine Most Valuable Conferences
"...The world of college sports is very clearly split between the haves and the have nots. The back half of our list – comprised of the American, Mountain West, Big East, C-USA and MAC – generated a combined $213 million last year. Consider that the Big 12, the lowest-earning Power Five conference, took home $253 million. And that wealth gap would be even wider if not for the College Football Playoff, which shared $80 million among the so-called Group of Five (AAC, MWC, C-USA, MAC and the Sun Belt Conference)."

You are probably right, the MAC is still on their old TV $$$. The raise they got does not start for another year or 2.

This looks like a top ten. The Sun Belt apparently didn't make the cut.

True. Not in original article, either.

Except I would not expect this chart to catalog all of the tier 3 revenue that is collected on an individual basis in the Big 12. Texas dwarfs other schools because of their individual 15M deal with ESPN for the LHN. OU supposedly gets around 8M from Fox for their regional access. Kansas makes about the same on their basketball. WVU signed a fairly lucrative 3rd teir deal as well.

It's a miracle that anyone outside the P5 can survive. It's criminal how the P5 has consolidated power.

Are you saying the MAC is going to pass CUSA? I think it's more likely that the SBC will pass the MAC.

Someone tell me how the MAC earned more bowl money then C-USA when we played a better bowl schedule, including a bowl with the Big10?

Wrong. The new deal included additional provisions to the three remaining years, plus a 10 year extension. So, they are now through year 1 of a 13 year agreement,

Maybe not the MAC but last round of realignment this conference made some horrible choices. Hell, CUSA has a team that won't be playing football for another two years plus an FCS call up that just started playing. It doesn't look good. Look at our schedule. Marshall couldn't get any respect because of strength of schedule. Who's on the schedule? Other CUSA schools. Every year our recruiting classes have went down since the AAC split. I think programs like Texas State, Arkansas State, Louisiana, Georgia Southern, Appalachian State, ect.... have superior athletics to some of the programs in the new CUSA. It hurts to admit but that's reality.

"Some" programs are better, yes. But that's to be expected. Surely you don't think EVERY C-USA program should be better than EVERY Sun Belt program, do you? That's unreasonable. The important thing is that we're better overall, and we are, at least based on last year's results.
Sun Belt vs. C-USA Last Year
The Sun Belt had an advantage over us in women's sports...
Volleyball ... 5-1
Soccer ... 2-5-1
Softball ... 9-4
Basketball ... 4-4
Women's Aggregate vs. C-USA ... 20-14-1
They're at a disadvantage in men's sports though...
Soccer ... 1-0
Baseball ... 5-12
Basketball ... 4-5
Football ... 0-4
Men's Aggregate vs. C-USA ... 10-21
Altogether, they're 30-35-1 against us, so I wouldn't characterize them as superior.

Yep, aware of that. I discovered that a couple years ago, much to my surprise (lol). The Big East is indeed the only conference the SEC doesn't hold an advantage against, and ironically enough, the Big East doesn't even compete in football anymore. I don't think there are many who perceive the Sun Belt to have better athletics programs than C-USA though, so that point is moot.
