RE: How would you rank the AAC basketball coaches?
This is likely Pastner's last season at Memphis. Either he makes a run and takes another job (his resume is still such that other schools would take interest) or he gets fired, imho. If he takes another job, I bet the money guys dangle his salary plus a little at a Gregg Marshall type. If he gets fired and they have to pay out his salary, I bet Damon Stoudamire is the next coach at Memphis.

1. Brown - has an NCAA title and NBA crown
2. Ollie - has an NCAA title
3. Cronin - impressive recruiting of late
4. Sampson - is putting together a formidable team
5. Dunphy - impressive turnaround last year. NCAA worthy
6. Haith - overachieved last year with Tulsa
7. Pastner - has won a lot of games but struggles against good teams. Great class coming in.
8. Jones - good class coming this year
9. Conroy - good class coming this year.
10. Antigua - better recruiter than Lebo. Decent class
11. Lebo
Brown is obvious - like the 'Basketball Jesus,' arose 'em from the dead. Hall of Fame. Lebo is ranked true - Lebo quote: 'Never has someone (Lebo) done so little with so little (ECU b-ball).' Ollie - limited info here w/ players not recruited by him and that 1 year. Yet there's 'the NCAA run' so he has to be #2 w/ that title and Calhoun's full influence. The rest? -mostly mix 'em up then make your point.

RE: How would you rank the AAC basketball coaches?
Ugh I hate reading under Dunphy "Does the most with the least" it is 100% accurate but why can't he do the most with the most? Recruiting has always been a sore spot but the man is a fantastic coach...
1. Brown- Too much pedigree not to put him here
2. Ollie- Really impressive and probably the best recruiter in the league
3. Cronin/Dunphy- Very similar defense first, build up regular recruit style
5. Sampson- Great recruiter and has been in the business learning a long time
6. Haith- More of a recruiter than a coach imo but he has the past success
7. Pastner- Seems to be the opposite Dunphy doing the least with the most
8. Conroy- I loved the way he coached last year, Tulane was always battling.
9. Jones- Just needs to put it all together
10. Antigua- Too early to rank really
11. Lebo- He isn't horrible like this ranking would suggest he just needs to step up soon

Hopefully the Mckie hire starts paying off and fast. Need him to balance out Dunphy's recruiting inefficiencies.

How much time does ECU give Lebo? Just how warm is that seat?

He has a lifetime contract. Or at least he has until his team completely flat lines and there is no longer even hope for success.
No his seat is not even remotely warm. He is probably one of the most secure coaches in the league.
And to be honest with you; he is not one of the worst coaches in the league (in fact I would rank him in the middle of the league as far as actual coaching), but everyone knows that coaches have a tendency of looking a lot better if they have talented players.

He's under contract until the end of the 20-21 season, he's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Scary. I wish they'd take a gander at the coach at UT Martin. He completely turned the program around in one season and has a good pedigree. I think he'd do well at ECU.

I guess I should rank Lebo ahead of Donnie Jones since all we do is sweep UCF

No need to look at him, because Lebo is not going anywhere.
Believe it or not; Lebo's only problem is getting a tough interior "6'7"-"6'9" athletic type rebounder. I don't get it, because he knows how many 3's his teams shoot; so you would think he would go balls out to land one of those type of guys. The last guy that Lebo had like that was Robert Sampson; and that was the year that ECU won 23 games.

Coach Orlando Antigua is the best Men's Basketball Coach at USF. No other Men's Basketball Coach matters.

Good luck with that. After we buyout Lebo's contract if we are lucky sooner than later it will probably cost us about several million to do nothing if you thought paying Mack 125k a couple years to actually work and fundraise was bad.
We'll have like 3 dollars to get someone after.
If Lebo does bomb this year and we can fire him Compher should go too for that contract extension. Even if Lebo turned it around that contract at that time was completely horrible and it doesn't justify it.

If 3 of the following (Tulane, ECU, USF, UCF, Houston) can pick things up a bit, then the RPI of this conference is going to soar.
A few of those teams have scheduling problems and not talent problems. Tulane had a non-conference SOS of over 200 - which is why their RPI peaked at 98 after getting off to a 4-2 AAC start with a win at Memphis. Some of these AAC teams are killing themselves before a ball is even tipped.
Good news is that there is a reason to think it will actually happen based on recruiting.

Our OOC SOS was 300.
Already have terrible 300 RPI type teams like Campbell, FAU, College of Chalreston on the schedule as well as an awful looking Charlotte team that was 200+ last year and lost 4 or 5 starters with a rookie coach who replaced them with spring leftovers. Doubt they are very good either. Typical horrible scheduling from us.

Is that confirmed? If so the conference needs to step in and set standards for scheduling. This is my biggest complaint about Lebo!
