Not saying it won't happen, but that is a HUGE amount to decrease a contract and tough to sell to your members.
A lot of SBC people are hoping and wishing it will collapse so they can say "I told you so".
That's wishful thinking. Arkstfan is right. It will depend on what Fox's plans are and what they think they need. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go down...stay the same....or even go up. No telling what the tv execs will do.
As I've said before. Tell what Fox wants to do and I can tell you what to expect.
Is FOX ready to start loading up some content for FS2 is the question. You would think CUSA would be a good option for FS2.

Why on Earth would the value of the CUSA TV deal not tank? Didn't Fox just this past year buy AAC games from ESPN and opt not to show all of the CUSA games that they could?

My Suggestion for Expansion: Raid CUSA (seriously)
Well SMU and other schools escrowed $6,000,000 each to cover a decline in media rights when we left so they will have some time

RE: My Suggestion for Expansion: Raid CUSA (seriously)
Would it make sense for a conference like the Sun Belt or CUSA to just forgoe the networks and just produce their own productions through app / subscription model? Create an iOS app, AppleTV app, streaming site ... and just sell subscriptions and advertising / sponsorships.
Let's say the conference charges $30 per year and gets $21 after Apple's cut but before expenses. Would a million or more people be willing to pay for that? Since many people are cutting the cable cord perhaps it is something to look into. I know the production value wouldn't be great at first but they could invest more into it if it is successful. May lose casual viewers from ESPN3.

I think that the the new CUSA TV deal will be a little better than the $1M per school that it is now. If I'm right, then the hierarchy among the conferences that make up the G5 will remain unchanged. If I'm wrong and the new CUSA TV deal tanks, then CUSA will join the SBC and the MAC in a tier that's a good bit under that of the AAC and the MWC. I'd look for some kind of an alliance to be formed between the AAC and the MWC at that point.

There should be an alliance between all G5 conferences, at this point.

There will be when it makes financial sense.

And when certain G5 leagues realize they aren't going to be a part of the Power 5 clique no matter what they do.

Then we just need to find someone a map, and point out that Norfolk and El Paso are, in fact, not close to each other.

Here's the problem - it doesn't matter if it tanks. It just needs to be better than the other options (SBC/MAC/Whatever). And it likely will be.
Personally, I like the idea one guy had of taking the strongest members of both and forming a new conference. I won't get into the who or where though. I think both conferences have enough strong members for a better than solid conference, and they definately have some deadweight to shed. Will never, ever happen though.

It might be higher. It might be lower. My school's cut of it will be $0 either way. So I'm starting to wonder whether or not I should care.

I still believe the Sun Belt, CUSA, and MAC need to join forces to get a TV deal for all 3 conferences. Ideally I'd like to see the MWC and AAC join as well, but they might be harder to convince. Either way a network would get 38 schools (64 if the other two joined in) to showcase. This would be a great opportunity for FS1 or NBC to get a ton of fans tuning into their network. With the P5 taking up so much of the programming on ESPN and CBS we have to do something different to get our share.

How is the revenue split between the conferences?

No they won't.
Let's say you are SMU.
Option 1. You get $1.5 million, UNT gets $1 million TXST gets $0.1 million.
Option 2. You get $2 million. UNT gets $1.8 million, TXST gets $1.6 million.
Option 3. You get $2.2 million, UNT gets $2.2 million, TXST gets $2.2 million.
Which will you choose?
If you want to skew competitive balance in your favor, Option 1 is best.

Could be that ESPN won't license content to FS1 and FS2.
If Fox wants to go whole banana I think CUSA could come out nicely.

Even split for each team.

The better women aspect is decreasing as more Yankee and Midwest women move in to the area and repopulate.

RE: My Suggestion for Expansion: Raid CUSA (seriously)
1. Cusa money increases. I don't see this happening. Unless ESPN comes in at near current numbers and forces FOX/CBS to increase spending if they don't want ESPN to basically monopolize CFB. IF ESPN does beat out FOX/CBS for cusa then it'll just do the same thing to them as it does with the SBC.
2. Money stays the same. Very possible. Maybe the viewership and potential viewership changed little after the shuffle and the networks see it as money well spent.
3. Money decreases. Also very possible. Viewership has gone down, tv execs haven't seen enough ad revenue, no competition for these games, etc...
What I think will happen is that CUSA will see a decrease in their new deal (not to the MAC/SBC level). But in the future the new SBC deal will increase (it'll all depend how teams are performing) and close the gap to virtually nothing. Then you will see if teams leave or stay put. I don't see basketball being that big of a draw for CUSA teams to push the tv deal over the top (I know some in Cusa land think so).
In the end the AAC remains on top with MWC 2nd and then everyone else. Until the next round tv deals.

MAC picked up $10 million in their deal. I don't think $14 million (status quo) is implausible
