3 stars from Friday's UNC Wilmington-Tulane Baton Rouge Regional game
UNC Wilmington displayed an impressive hitting attack in its 10-1 victory against Tulane in the first round of the Baton Rouge Regional on Friday night at LSU's Alex Box Stadium. The Seahawks pounded out 11 hits for the game and scored sevens runs – all with two out – in the fourth inning to take control.
The second-seeded Seahawks now meet top seed LSU in the winner's bracket at 8 p.m. Saturday. Third-seeded Tulane gets fourth-seeded Lehigh at 3 p.m. Saturday in an elimination game.
Here are three stars from the game:
UNC WILMINGTON DH LUKE DUNLAP: Dunlap was 3-for-3 with two RBIs to lead UNC Wilmington at the plate. He also scored one run in the Seahawks' seven-run fourth inning and delivered a two out run-scoring single in the same frame as UNC Wilmington sent 14 hitters to the plate. Dunlap gave the Seahawks a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a two-out RBI single. Dunlap keyed the Seahawks attack, which was 7-for-13 with runners in scoring position.
UNC WILMINGTON PITCHER RYAN FOSTER: Foster (7-1), who pitched a complete game victory, allowed Tulane eight hits but worked out of jams throughout the night. He struck out six and walked one. But that doesn't tell the whole story. Tulane was 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position, 2-for-11 with two outs and 3-for-18 with runners on base. He held Tulane without a run until the fifth inning and by then the Seahawks controlled 9-0.
