RE: Where will UAB go ?
Given this scenario, which school would move West?
1.) UAB leaves conference
2.) UTEP accepts invite to MWC
3.) C-USA elects to remain at 12 schools.
Here's the list, purely on geography, of where the eastern C-USA schools rank (from most eastern):
1.) ODU
2.) FAU
3.) FIU
4.) Charlotte
5.) Marshall
6.) MTSU 86 21'
7.) WKU 86 27'
.....hmm

Ignore geography send USM east and MTSU/WKU east would be an option.

Not wanting to start a new thread. But it appears there is about ~8 weeks before the CUSA meetings. What happens if basically there is no resolution or even a task force selected to review the findings? It seems like UAB needs to throw a bone to CUSA to try and give them a reason to keep them. Otherwise, it seems like a pretty easy out for CUSA to boot UAB. There are probably some schools saying, they wouldn't mind an extra 100K to their budgets. I know it doesn't sound like a lot for P5, but a schools like W. Ky, ODU, Char, Ect.. That has to be tempting.
If UTEP were to go to MWC (Which I highly doubt), you have to think Banowsky has to believe he is the luckiest commissioner alive to get his league back to 12, increase payouts for his teams, the villains would be Bama BOT and CUSA looks like Pontius Pilot washing his hands.

Going to 12 sounds great in theory, however UTEP and UAB have strong bball traditions and March Madness is where CUSA has the best chance to make $$ since we are fighting for scraps in football.

Not really sure I understand the Basketball making more money, it appears CUSA the past few years has been a 1-2 bid league. Prior to this year, UAB last went in 2010 along with UTEP. Unless CUSA is seeing 3-4 bids with LT, ODU, UAB WKU and UTEP. Not sure basketball will make CUSA more money than football unless you start getting multiple bids every year. I don't see that happening in the near future with the P5, A10, BE and AAC, but I could be wrong.

We will be fighting for scraps in BBall too if we don't get back to multiple bids. That's going to take all teams building up their OOC schedule. Losing both would suck and I hope the best for UAB but it wouldn't be insurmountable.

Yeah, losing 2 of your brand name programs just to get back to 12 teams has to feel really lucky. Lol. Two of your best basketball programs + football teams who were both bowl eligible and #1 and #5 in attendance last year.
You lose UTEP and UAB and remain at 12:
-Football attendance average moves down to 19,000 which is equal to the current SunBelt makeup.
-Average men's basketball RPI drops down to a 200 average which is good for around 19-20th in conference RPI which is equal to the current SunBelt makeup.
And UAB picked a new firm today. We'll see how that goes.

RE: Where will UAB go ?
CUSA is not better off if they were to lose UAB and/or UTEP. As mentioned above, losing those 2 means significant losses to the strength of the league, attendance, and TV markets. I'm sure that whatever decision is reached well be thoroughly investigated, unlike what Watts and the BOT did to UAB football.
For example, I'm sure CUSA has already been trying to gauge what would happen to TV $ if UAB and/or UTEP were to be out of CUSA. Yes, you can look at as a decrease in member institutions as a way to increase the payout to schools based on a drop in the number of mouths to feed. But having said that, those things don't happen in a vacuum. Losing schools like UAB and UTEP will definitely impact the TV deal that CUSA gets. Just how much, though, remains to be seen.

The greatest determinant to the next deal is the Fox strategy for its holdings.
If Fox is serious about FS2 being something other than niche programming and sees Fox Sports2Go as a future significant brand and is going to compete more on weeknights, then CUSA could get a really nice TV deal.

RE: Where will UAB go ?
Rather not lose either school. Both are strong programs and carry lots of weight for the conference in basketball and while UAB has temporary trashed football , UTEP seems to be dumping some cash into football. I really hope that UAB finds a way to bring football back, because I don't think CUSA will hold that spot otherwise
