Scoreboard
Just saw an article that Mr. Gores gave Western a nice 2 Mill for a scoreboard! Should be pretty nice! 04-cheers04-bow02-13-banana04-rock

Listen to the podcast interview with Gore. Guy has a great story. First generation to graduate in his immagrant family (still carries an accent). Worked multiple jobs while going to school. Except for the part about becoming a billionaire I'm sure many of us baby boomers can relate.

Wish he told who the prof was who gave him the second chance. I had Dr. Vuccich and Heller in the Social Studies Dept., both were very good.

Gore is the same guy that was instrumental in helping grease the skids for the
Southern Cal game with the Broncos

I liked this part;

Quote:“I give all the credit to Athletic Director Kathy Beauregard,” said Gores.“I am more than happy to do it and I hope to do more in the future to support the program."

RE: Scoreboard
What a gravy train this guy could be. Are this donation and the game with USC the first major things he's been involved with regarding football? If so, wonder why it took so long for him to gain interest.

Hey guys..... far be it for me to be the spelling Nazi but let's make sure we spell the names of our major donors correctly.... it's Gores and Haworth.

RE: Scoreboard
Very cool.

Alec was a walk-on left-footed Soccer-style (not as common then) place kicker in '74.

Great success story.

RE: Scoreboard
Nice praise for our coach!

“Wow he’s amazing,” said Gores. “When I first met P.J., I was beyond impressed and that’s what got my attention. I’ve got to get involved because this guy is young, he’s committed, he’s a hard worker, he is the perfect storm. Western is very lucky to have him and (WMU) is a great place for him. I am super impressed with him."

So much for losing donors. I probably should not have said the preceding sentence, as this thread should be positive "happy talk".

This is awesome for the program and the university.

RE: Scoreboard
OK...what is the total cost of the scoreboard? (previous thread can't remember and too lazy to look) Is this a jump start for the campaign or the total cost?

Someone on this board should be able to write a check for the remaining balance.
