Rose out again with same knee injury as last year
It's a shame. This is all probability a genetic defect because of his conditioning and not carrying extra weight. Shame he will never realize the vast potential he had.

Now that’s a real bummer.

Keep the faith Derrick and TCB!

I still don't understand why Cal didn't give him a breather in the final game.

This is why you feed your kids a well balanced and nutritional diet. Just my opinion. Maybe it's just terrible luck.

They don't know the severity yet so no one jump to conclusions. He'll likely be back next season. Speed has its downside, I guess. His knees just can't handle it.

Derrick's career is becoming more and more a parallel to that of Penny's.

I can't imagine the punishment a life in the NBA puts on the human body.

Best wishes for you, Derrick.

Man, i'm one of drose's biggest fans, but he never developed the long range shot nor does he really run an offense like a typical pg. Most likely, he will have nagging injuries for whatever remains of his career. Hate it for him, but his body is failing him.

Shades of Penny. At least he got the money. They're saying there are two likely scenarios, trim the excess and be game ready in a few weeks or repair it completely and be out for a few months. Neither of those appears to be career ending but it can't be good. I doubt he will ever realize his true potential.

How many of you attribute these injuries to jumping to the NBA too soon?

DRose, Penny, they were running down a list on Mike and Mike and though they didn't mention anything about guys who went to the NBA early, in my mind I was saying, he went early, that guy went early, so I wonder in some cases even thought the talent is there, is the body really ready for that grind for some guys?

That's too bad, he was on a path to be one of the best in the game.

I don't think going pro early had anything to do with it, but his style of play and diet certainly could have contributed combined with bad luck. I just don't see how chicago goes on with a guy who is constantly hurt and they owe him over 40 million in the next two years. I have read where insurance has paid some of his salary during past injuries. Chicago brass has some big decisions ahead of them.

It's obvious to me how this happened. Look at how he's dunked since high school. He never hangs on the rim to lessen the impact. He spikes the ball and usually lands on one knee awkwardly. Check out his top ten dunks on youtube. All ten have terrible landings. Not sure why he can't hang on the rim.

Agreed, he was an very intense player, jumper, and dunker. He has calmed down some this year. It is fun to watch, and I often wonder why more players, especially centers, and strong forwards don't go to the hole with more brute force, but you can definitely see how a prolonged period of playing like that would limit the longevity of your knees.

In all of the talk of his injuries no one ever mentions his diet. Gummy Bears. Not sure if that's still the case. But he used to glory in his odd diet. Bad nutrition will break the body down as much as anything.

He wore those knee sleeves at Memphis didn't he? Wonder if he's always had knee pain?

I know exactly what you are talking about in those awkward landings.
