RE: The Cottonball challenge to Jimmy Bass
I still have problems with some things. But, as a whole, our athletic program is moving very well in the right direction. And I don't have any problem giving kudos to anyone who has stepped up to help. Even so, nothing happens without going thru Jimmy Bass. And very little happens without the support of the Chancellor. We have finally dug our way out of a huge grave. And it took 10 years. No coach put us in that grave. I place our fall strictly on the shoulders of a Chancellor, an AD and a couple of boosters. At least the first two are gone.
And those who are still around holding grudges and vendettas can kiss my blue and teal arse.

The Cottonball challenge to Jimmy Bass
Hawk So Hard, nobody here thinks Bass walks on water but you must be some kind of special to be so bitter about him even though all signs are pointing to quite a successful tenure for him here at UNCW.

True leaders put others in the position to succeed and thrive and they create and environment where success is possible. Looks like that is what Bass has done

UNCW is now headed to the NCAA tournament. - Thanks to Keatts, who was hired by Bass
Locker rooms have been upgraded - Thanks to Bill Rudisill and his efforts not Jimmy Bass. Jimmy is the AD, not the fundraiser
Basketball players are living in very nice off campus housing - Thanks to Coach Keatts.Wrong, thanks to Bass.
We chartered a plane back from the W&M game - Thanks to Bill Rudisill and his efforts in raising the money to do so, not Jimmy Bass. Again, AD is not the fundraiser, he's the AD.
We didn't go for the away game money - thanks to Coach Keatts and him telling Jimmy he would not do it. Jimmy made it happen.
We should have COA in place before next years recruiting - Jimmy
Seahawk club is hiring a new fundraiser, and he/she will be under the supervision of our major gifts employee. - Note to self, Jimmy hired the last 2 Seahawk Club directors and both have been let go. Bass = poor hiring manager for fundraisers. hence, why he does not have a say in new SHC Director. So? Can't be all things.
The fans have returned, the Seahawk club is growing, and there are plans in place to keep Keatts. - Thanks to Ticket office, Marketing office, corporate sponsorship office (not the AD's office or Seahawk Club). Again, everything isn't the job of the AD
Pretty damned impressive if you ask me. Even meeting the Cottonmouth standards.

What would you like to be different compared to how things are currently ran?

RE: The Cottonball challenge to Jimmy Bass
The improvement to facilities has happened without dropping track & field or swimming. It helps a school to have a deep athletic program because the regular students have athletes in their classes. That increases student support for all programs.
UNCW has the tradition and atmosphere to have successful swimming and track & field programs.

I wouldn't expect an answer Solo. The only knock is fundraising, and that has been turned over to the fundraising department of UNCW. BTW, we can earn FAR more by winning the CAA and getting to the NCAA's on a regular basis than we will with fundraising. The CAA formula for income distribution is pretty favorable for the schools that do well. RPI, NCAA wins, OOC records, NCAA wins are all rewarded via the Excellence fund.

True but the excellence fund is funded by NCAA credits which means it's not as big as it used to be. Maybe we can put together a final 4 run to replenish the fund

Even though softball has gotten much better, they are still having to recruit with a shortage of scholarships.
