Houston Coog Baseball is #7 in the nation!! The N-N-Nation!!!
HOUSTON – With just under a month until Opening Night, the newly enhanced D1Baseball.com has unveiled its inaugural preseason Top 25 rankings and Houston Baseball, under the direction of fifth-year head coach Todd Whitting, polls in at No. 7 in the nation, marking its third Top 10 preseason nod already this season by multiple organizations.

Good job Coogs! The one sport I don't have to hate you in because Tulsa doesn't have a baseball team. (Softball is another story though!)

On a related note Tulsa Softball starts the season in the Top 25 again this season.if we weren't leading the league currently in basketball I would say Tulsa's a softball school haha

Awesome news, good luck Houston. I am still holding out hope that someday Tulsa will reinstate baseball. Before the program was axed they made some trips to Omaha in the 70's. I'm guessing full cost of attendance scholly's will make it harder to add baseball.

Looking forward to it! Pierce will have the Green Wave program up in the rankings before we know it.

They did a terrific job getting to the super regional last year. Would love to see them go one step better by making the CWS this year, and beating Texas along the way.

That's the thing about making it to the CWS out of the South. It's so freakin' stacked. UH, Texas, Texas Tech, TCU, LSU, and OK. State are all top 10 caliber teams this year, and there's only so many Regionals to go around.

Like last year, I think we had a top 5 RPI all year, and didn't even get to host a Regional. Hopefully we don't get screwed out of hosting one this year, and only end up having to beat 1 of those teams from that list to make it to Omaha.

Nice! Jealous here.

On a side note, always loved D1baseball.com...even though it was text-based. I yhink part of the reason I like it was because of the way they listed games/scores. The website looks SO different now but the games/scores pages looks very similar to the old setup...for which I am very happy.

Very looking forward to the season. UH starts off with big name schools in Alabama and Minnesota, but the early big Top 10 matchup will be #4 LSU at #7 Houston at the Astros Minute Maid Park College Classic March 6th. The Tigers will be out for revenge for the Super Regional loss last season at the hands of the Coogs. It should be a huge game atmosphere downtown.

BEAT LSU !!!

We get #2 UVA at home to start the year. Then we have Saint John's, Michigan, and Liberty int the LeClair Classic, then go to the USA baseball Irish Classic to play ND, NC State, and Richmond. We get for the first time I can remember NC State 3 times when including the Tourny match up.nwe also have VCU, Cambell, ODU, UNCW, Elon, UNC-G and Monmouth.

Great ranking. I hope in the next year or two Tulane Head Baseball coach David Pierce can bring Tulane baseball up to your level as the early years under former Tulane head coach Rick Jones. Would like Houston and Rice to consider inviting us Tulane next year to the annual baseball tournament in the covered professional baseball stadium in Houston. What a great experience! Would be fun if we had Rice back in the AAC for baseball.

NOW NUMBER THREE!!

Baseball America now has LSU at #2 and AAC Champ Houston at #3!!! So, now, the match-up at Minute Maid Park went from a Top 10 to a Top 5. So, glad that my alma mater can now pull its weight for the conference in one of the big 3 sports. We have strong expectations of making it to Omaha this year; BUT, first things first.

dafuuuuuq?

That's epic, but I'll ask the obvious question -- what changed between now and a week ago for us to shoot up 4 spots?
