It was reported before the game, but after that, the Cardinals quit and MU rolled. NCAA should have a dead period on hiring during the 3 weeks or so of bowl season imho, just isn't fair to the kids or the institutions.

agreed

I agree strictly from a job perspective. Depends on what you want, though. According to the USA Today numbers, Marshall is paying $609,820 and Pitt is paying $1,578,757. So 4 years at Pitt equals 10 years at Marshall, pay wise. If he wants to retire in his early 60's then it might make sense.

I repeat this all the time, but it is always the answer...

Money is always the end result regarding the 'why'

everything else is bs...

don't flog the author.....they aren't my rules....

Just because a school is P5 and can offer more money doesn't mean it's a good career choice. Pitt is running through coaches at an alarming rate and I would think twice about being the next one to go there.

let's work this equation out....

let's see (in first person from Doc)....I'm almost 60 and I can make in 4 yrs what it currently takes 10...

it doesn't take any more than that......

just fkn really?

it's scary how people think money isn't the driving force of every decision they make.....lmfao

RE: Holiday to interview at Pitt
There are certain boxes that would need checked for Doc to go somewhere:
First, his father is elderly so he'd need to stay close to Hurricane, WV-probably about a half day's drive.
Second, he would need to be able to recruit Florida easily.
Third, he would need to be able to win.
Lastly, he would need to receive a pretty decent pay raise.

Pitt fits all these criteria, as it's about as close as you can get, he can recruit FL, the ACC is fairly weak, and they could pay him good money.

Other jobs that would get him to leave (not necessarily open): VT, Maryland, WVU, Penn St, Ohio St, Louisville, Tennessee, NC St, UNC, the Florida big 3 (he would move his father to Florida)

Just my opinion, if he's offered the job, he'd be an idiot not to take it.

Doc would basically keep Pitt in bowl games every year but never really sniff the Conference crown. He would continue to recruit FL but lose out to Miami, FL St. And Clemson on the big recruits. It's not ideal but for the money take it and the 6 win vacation at the end every year.

Missing the point. The team he coaches doesn't matter. The only thing that coaches find attractive is $$$$$$$. Pitt has more to give than MU. That simple.

Number 1 and 3 on your list os purely speculation. You have no idea about whether he cares about either of those.

And the one that is most important is 4th, money. If he could almost triple his salary, he would probably go coach University of Charleston

Hmm, P5 conference and money. I imagine this would be Doc's last stop. Who would blame the man. What person would turn down a Million dollar pay raise. Remember, Pitt is the coastal, not like they have to play Louisville, FSU, and Clemson each season. May not get a ACC championship but does have a legitimate shot at Coastal title.

If you can defend the option and outsmart Duke, you would have a shot.

If Holliday left for Pitt, I would vomit. Hopefully he won't.

Actually, that was the GMAC Bowl, and Marshall dominated throughout the game. 03-razz But it probably didn't help the Louisville players who heard that announcement. I remember that game pretty well.

It's being reported 5 to 7 candidates will be interviewed short on specifics except there is a lot of interest by prospective candidates. MSU D-coordinator has already interviewed. Former Rutgers coach Greg Schiano will not be considered to me that's a bit of a surprise.

If they did that then national signing day would have to be moved into March
