If your going to try to cut a school at the knees at least do it right. ECU was inCOnference USA for 13 not 17 years. Details right.

1997-2013 for football, that's 17 years. Two titles, but 2nd 7 times.. Top 4 all, but 3 years of the 17.

I think you're missing my point.

Memphis fans are so insecure that they can't detect very obvious points being made.

If you aren't in the final game then it doesn't matter one whit. Might as well have fun in south beach

For there to be a P6, you have to get ESPN, FOX, CBS and NBC behind the idea. 07-coffee3

Actually, these terms change so often, that "idea" will fall by the wayside (in the basement bin, next to "bcs") and something else will take its place. The AAC just needs to keep being relevant, which it has done a pretty nice job at doing in its short history.

Wilkie, do you masturbate when you post? It just seems that way (the coffee is perhaps your masturbatory 'cigarette' afterwards). The AAC seems to be a lot more important to you than you are to the AAC. 03-shhhh

Skip may have been a better x's and o's coach, but Ruff is a great person and a better recruiter. We have more talent now than we did when Skip was here.

Ruffin hasn't built a defense yet good enough to win a conference title, but he does have better overall talent and way less off field issues. A more stable program built for the long haul, IMO, not just a quick fix designed to advance the head coach's career to another step up the perceived food chain.

Wow...you don't even know your own school's history (i.e. ECU was a member of CUSA for 17 years...in which, Skip won the only 2 titles that ECU won over that run).

I think we can send nbc an F you card, cause they're the ones who bid as low as they did thinking we'd just jump on it. All ESPN had to do was match it, so Aresco did the smart thing and choose the better network and better coverage.

I think he meant Ruff is an outstanding person and great representative for ECU and the American. Ruff hasn't won a conf title yet but has won some big games (and lost several he should have won)

As usual, you are so busy with self-pity and wallowing in our present shortcomings that you overlook the fact that things can improve in the future. Being referred to as "P6" on a national radio show is the sort of step in the right direction that we need. For that reason, I, for one, DO care.

The American right now is in a weird position. Everyone here is used to being overlooked despite on field results. Lately, we have gotten a lot of positive perception despite ummmm... less on field results. Maybe this is the ESPN effect? I don't know.

Look how many basketball games are on TV and how much our teams are talked about and then go look up the records. For once, we are the ones being overhyped and I'm cool with that lol

No self pity. Im stating the obvious...calling us a P5 is great except we dont have P5 payouts, bowl games, and everything else that makes the P5 the P5.

Its like those people that join the Jedi religion. They say they are officially Jedi's except none of them have a lightsaber or the force.

Last year our Champ won the Fiesta against the Big 12 Champion. Did you consider us a power conference then? Before that, our Champ beat the Gators in a BCS bowl.

As for having a contract with the Orange, I'm sure that's something Aresco is trying to do. However, that battle is fought in an office. No matter how good our athletes are, they have no control over that situation.

Yes, the AAC was a "power conference" last year as it's winner (UCF) went to a BCS bowl like the other 5 AQ conference winners went to a BCS bowl last year. This year is where the divide officially took place.

I agree. Last year the league took more crap and yet was an auto bid league with better football wins and a great basketball season. This year was bad in football and is off to a bad start in basketball and yet the conference is perceived better by the media overall. The MWC will probably end up winning the non cartel monies for strongest football conference this year so it's an odd turn around in perception. Maybe a little guilt by certain media types to what happened to our schools? I don't know.....

It all comes down to September and OOC wins.

UConn plays at BYU and Missouri next year. We need to keep those "reasonable" and not lose 42-0. At some point, maybe 4 or 5 years from now, we need to win those games (or at least half of them).

I see the AAC west, especially with all the new young talented coaches and the addition of Navy, becoming like a SEC West lite part of the "American"
