Unfortunately, that's going to require interest from Missouri State. We're not entirely sure they are interested in FBS Yet...though this is a move in the right direction.

Its going to take time for any of us to get there. of course, to be fair, Missouri State may need a couple years to get there themselves. Those pictures are a few seasons old.

RE: Missouri State
Think Mo St is aiming for CUSA. Its a better basketball league, and the combination of Mo St and Wichita St would solve the UAB problem. Carr Associates advised both Mo St, JMU, and UAB, so its possible they strongly advised Mo St to wait and see if they can get in CUSA with UAB dropping football.

CUSA East
Marshall
ODU
Charlotte
FIU
FAU
W Ky
M Tenn St
UAB (BB only)

CUSA West
S Miss
La Tech
Mo St
UTSA
UTEP
Rice
North Texas
Wichita St (bb only)

The additions would make CUSA much more powerful in baseball and basketball. The MVC doesn't have the strength that it formerly had, and rumors are the Wichita St wants out.

The other option could be that CUSA takes in UConn and Temple fb only, so those schools can rejoin the Big East, which has a massive BB contract. The Big East wouldn't take in St Louis or Dayton, because there is much bigger fish out there.

He was coach at Wyoming for several years before being let go. He is an alum at USD. USD is not a very plum job, as Vermillion is basically USD and nothing else for miles. Moreover, USD is a basketball school.

Oh it's all relative. I just look at it from my school's perspective I guess. Gill made $679k in his first year here. I'm sure he made even more in years 2 & 3, and after the way this season ended, he's going to get a good raise.

How about the other sports? Could the $679K include perks. Just looking at the OPE Equity in Athletics database, it looks like the coaches of the other sports would be on the low end to have an average as low as is reported to the US Department of Education. Just out of curiosity, I compared ours with Liberty's. Last thing we saw was our football coach was getting $158,500 base plus incentive perks. Don't have the numbers for the new three year contract announced a couple of weeks ago (terms not disclosed yet). Even so, our averages in the men's sports are pretty close and our per FTE salary is actually a little higher.

Liberty

Head Coaches' Salaries
Men's Teams Women's Teams
Average Annual Institutional Salary per Head Coach $206,800 $96,019
Number of Head Coaches Included in Average 7 9
Average Annual Institutional Salary per FTE $222,708 $101,667
Number of FTEs Included in Average 6.50 8.50
CAVEAT

Lamar

Head Coaches' Salaries
Men's Teams Women's Teams
Average Annual Institutional Salary per Head Coach $203,418 $83,763
Number of Head Coaches Included in Average 6 7
Average Annual Institutional Salary per FTE $256,949 $101,972
Number of FTEs Included in Average 4.75 5.75
