Missouri State
Reports out of Springfield indicate they are about to name Missouri DC and Broyles finalist Dave Steckel their new head coach. Big move for them if true.

Choice I wasn't expecting at all. Good move by our administration. Also apparently he was Mizzou's recruiting man in Texas. Hopefully he copies Pinkel's strategy lock down Missouri for the most part and fill in with Texas kids.

I wonder how much he will make? St. Louis Post-Dispatch said he makes 600K at Mizzou and is expected to take a big pay cut.

The Good news for Missouri State, is you don't make that hire if you are not football committed.

It also keeps FBS open for the future, if he can grow the program.

this seems like a big time hire to me, the type of coach that would be ready to make the FBS jump.

Being the main man, instead of second fiddle can be important for some.

Great, just what we need, another transition team that doesn't understand the game of football.

Wouldn't be any worse than Georgia State. Basketball and baseball would more than make up for it.

Don't worry they have never won anything in football, basketball is another story.

I know no one other than us nerds cares, but we have the makings of an excellent baseball conference.

Actually, last time I checked the University of Missouri Tigers were the only FBS school in their state. So, if Missouri State has the coins and the political backing; they are going to eventually try to step up.

Yep, Missouri State seems like a no brainer. Only one FBS school in Missouri, basketball and baseball are solid with top notch facilities. We need to get stronger in basketball. They can focus on building their football program. If they do that is great and if they don't then it is an easier path for someone to run the table and get an access bowl like Marshall nearly did without beating any strong teams.

Add nmsu full member and MSU and be done.

I'd be okay with that. That would bring us to 14. Would anyone want UAB as a basketball only to go with that? 15 is a big number for a basketball conference. Basically you'd have to do it divisionless with a 13 once 2 teams twice format.
