Hindsight is ironically, 20/20. And, I don't recall that detail (but that doesn't mean it's not true).

I actually seem to remember us bantering it about on here as to the virtues of playing at the Hoover Met vs Legion vs OCS but we've done that so many times

How about a resolution from the city council that, due to recent events, the city of Birmingham can no longer trust the word of the current leadership at UAB, and that new trustworthy leadership is needed to ensure the spirit of cooperation between the city and UAB is continued.

Would probably be helpful, particularly if forwarded to the faculty senate.

About the only thing B'ham could do is make getting streets closed / altered and some other things UAB has wanted changed more difficult to accomplish. The BOT has the general support of many in this state when it comes to slapping down UAB sports and the city of B'ham. Any measure that seeks to "punish" UAB for the actions of the BOT through its "hit man" will probably only harm what is in B'ham.

The ONLY thing that would affect that junta would be some enforcement body's ruling that their Holy Crimson Tide teams can't play any post season games for National Championships for several years. Now THAT would hit them where it hurts.

As I understand, something like this is in the works.

Does this sound about right?

Bama would get a 10-year bowl ban and the loss of 150 football scholarships unless the Board of Trustees does the following:

- Tell Ray Watts to immediately re-instate football, rifle, and bowling, then resign (I don't even care who replaces him).
- Promote Coach Clark to the position of Interim AD, and sign him to a 5-year contract as head football coach.
- Pay UAB Athletics $100 million in damages for 20 years of abuse and waive any rights of discretion to the use of the money, as well as the rights to any athletics development for the next 2 years from either UAB or UAH.
- Cubby, Finis, and Espy, the orchestrators of the plots against UAB and UAH tender their resignations and be replaced with the mayors of the three cities of the UA System, who will insure that, as current trustees resign due to age, they are to be replaced by graduates from the two schools with less current representation (UAB and UAH) whose degrees are no older than 2000 until the makeup of the Board is 5 UA graduates, 6 UAH graduates, and 6 UAB graduates, at which point the 5 UA graduates may appoint an additional UA graduate to make the Board an even 6-6-6. Retiring members from then forward would then only be replaceable by graduates of each retiring member's institution.
- All retired "emeritus" members are hereby dismissed, and no future members who retire due to age shall have any official influence on the board.

And finally, the deadline to accomplish all this would be December 24, 2014. Could you just imagine PBJ's reaction if he actually got a document that demanded all that? Bet he'd have a heart attack, but that's really what all three parties deserve!

Merry Christmas, UAB!!

Why do so many in the state don't mind slapping down UAB and Birmingham?

Oh, you know the answers:

a. Because so many people here look like your avatar. It's ugly but it's true.

b. Separate from that, there's a real hatred for intellectual thought out there in the lands of cotton and meth. UAT and Auburn are actual universities that actually have good professors and do good research. Rather than trumpet that, they have to excuse it by being good at football. How $%^#ed up is that???

That's the ugly truth all right .....real ugly truth. How do we get past that sort nonsense. I think if the people here in the metro were on one accord this area could surpass those ugly truths with no problem.
