Thanks for solving the mystery. An attendance number based on a hypothetical change in conference affiliation is not meant to be taken as a hard number. The general idea is that attendance would be up...

you are the one that claimed attendance would magically go up 7k per game just because of being in CUSA. Apparently we didn't realize you were only joking about the increase.

I think your missing the point. Texas teams resonate with casual Texas State fans and especially students. That means butts in seats.

alright cowgirl, not sure why you're comparing us to UNT and why you're hanging on the 27k number I threw out there.

Cause UNT left for the exact same reason you are stating. I was curious to see how how it helped their attendance. Seems I hit a nerve since you went straight to insults instead of facts.

Well, I don't have facts because what I am saying is IF we were in CUSA I believe our attendance would jump. You honestly think our attendance would not jump by an average of atleast 4k if we were in CUSA? Take out the bull**** Tuesday Sun belt games and replace it with a sold out Saturday home game against UTSA and that will pretty much get you there. Replace the Thursday night home game with a CUSA Friday night home game against Rice or UNT and we have 23-24k at that game instead of 12k (weather concerns were an issue with attendance that game, so the CUSA hypothetical with same weather concerns drops to 19-20k) If you think a CUSA West schedule would not boost attendance you're delusional. We are not UNT in Denton. Denton is 6 hours from San Antonio and Houston. We are smack dab in the middle of Texas, 45 minutes from SA, 2hrs and 45 minutes from Houston. Could you picture it, a full visitors section for a conference game, rather than the 42 Arkansas State fans that made it to the game.

I agree 100%. A move to cusa would be more beneficial for some schools than it would be for others...

No one. CUSA is not any better than SBC.

Except having more bowl slots and more money

And a better Tv deal, and a conference championship game, and 4 teams that are within a 6 hour road trip of San Marcos rather than 1. No offense to the Sun Belt but if they came calling, I'd take it. No Sunbelt teams resonate with any Texas State student or alumni, that's why we have 12k show up for our biggest in-conference game against the future conference champs. We'd avg 27k at home with a CUSA schedule and Txst fans traveling to away games would skyrocket

He's telling he truth. If we had Rice, UTSA, North Texas, and UTEP coming to play at bobcat stadium our attendance numbers would EXPLODE.

Not trying to sound like a cawk but most bobcats I know could care less about playing schools like South Alabama, Idaho, or the Georgia schools. That's just the truth.

I hope C-USA does invite us because it would help our fan interest tremendously. People actually know these other Texas schools. Yall can call BS on that all day long but you couldn't be more wrong.

CUSA is keeping UAB
No need to apply to CUSA. Because UAB is a charter member and
has good basketball. CUSA has a meeting scheduled to give UAB a waiver
on Football and keep them a conference member.

So all CUSA would be looking for is a Football only member west of the Mississippi.

There was no joking. Just didn't think the number would be taken so literal and as fact that attendance would increase to that specific amount.

I don't think anyone is getting a call. Why would all those schools want another LA or TX mouth to feed and compete with on the recruiting trail wearing the same patch as they do?

Because university presidents don't sweat things like who their coaches recruit against they only care when the alums get mad and want the coach fired.

C-USA takes Idaho, that puts them back at 14 football members and us at 10 members.. We play 9 conference games and 2 OCC games, add New Mexico State as a full member and everyone is happy... For now..

Seems just as likely they would add one all-sports and one non-football.

Not really what CUSA stated but if they go that route, they should reach out to BYU for football only. Really a win/win gets BYU bowls and a shot at G5 access slot. I do think CUSA should stay all sports, UAB needs to add a male team to stay D1. Seems like CUSA could bring in a far more stable program. Hate it for UAB but CUSA needs to make the most of a potential opening to make the conference stronger.

Agree, nor do they need Apple State for the fall colors unless they are looking for an out of way place to hold conference meetings.

Wat? Strong football program (going to fourth straight bowl). Baseball just hosted a super regional. Softball hosted a super and made it to the CWS. Basketball made it to NCAA tourny, had a lotto pick in the NBA draft. Tennis coming off of a conference championship. Women's basketball has the most wins at the beginning of a season in 31 years. Provides a regional rival to LaTech, USM, Rice. I never pimp or post, but that kind of just got me riled up.

I read recently Houston is not really happy in AAC. The money isn't as large as originally promised and I think Tulsa and Tulane are their closest conference mates. I think CUSA would welcome Houston back. Having said that my preference would be ULL (they know how to cook!) 04-cheers or USA. Both are close to us we could bus there including the band. And travel expenses are a big deal now a days...just my opinion.
