No one. CUSA is not any better than SBC.

Except having more bowl slots and more money

And a better Tv deal, and a conference championship game, and 4 teams that are within a 6 hour road trip of San Marcos rather than 1. No offense to the Sun Belt but if they came calling, I'd take it. No Sunbelt teams resonate with any Texas State student or alumni, that's why we have 12k show up for our biggest in-conference game against the future conference champs. We'd avg 27k at home with a CUSA schedule and Txst fans traveling to away games would skyrocket

I know this makes tooo much since, but merge the two leagues..
Cusa will have 13 football teams and the Sun Belt has 11..
That could be 4 six team divisions...

Atlantic Division
Gulf Coast Division
Mississippi River Division
Rio Grand Division

With the 4 division winners in a playoff to decide a champion...throw in a 3rd place game too (for bowl implications) and I'm up for that.

. .. will never happen, USA needs a farm system to raid to replace their membership when they leave or have programs shut down . . .

Uh, you couldnt get anyone there when your first bowl eligibility was on the line in warm weather.

This sounds just like UNT did. You need to get your attendance going by other means...a conference patch is not a magic wand.

I am thankful for the Sun Belt for giving us our start. Let's get real here though guys. CUSA calls and a Sun Belt team will come to the league. That tells you about the hierarchy.

I'll laugh my ass off when/if the Sun Belt convinces Southern Miss to jump the CUSA ship

No matter how old you are you will be dead before that happens. Just like no AAC school is moving to or back to CUSA unless the conference goes away.

1. You have a long wait, why would they take a preceived "step back?"
2. I'm not aware of any sun belt school that's turned down a CUSA offer. (just how it is).
3. Perception is REALITY, and they are preceived to be a better conference (SEE 2.).

I'd say take NMSU as full and call it a day at 10 teams for football.

I agree and play a nine game conference schedule but I think NMSt was supposedly the next on CUSA's list behind WKU.

Granted, but we would enjoy being "off the island" we're on . . and would love to develop rivalries with a number of TX schools in USA, all within easy driving distance of San Marvelous . . . much the same reason UNT left

The "other means" would be winning and the AD actually doing their job. Winning will come, although it appears to be slowly. The AD actually doing some marketing and generating interest around the program will come when we get a new AD. All I'm saying is the casual texas state fan and student does not give two ***** about going to a football game against Georgia southern, ULM, ULL, Arkansas State App St, Georgia State, South Alabama, New Mexico State, and especially ******* Idaho...Exchange those names for UTSA, Rice, UNT, UTEP where the casual TXST fan base has ties to those schools through friends/family/etc that they can harass leading up to the game and you've createed a whole lot of excitement around game day with in-conference rivalries. Walk around Texas State's campus and ask 100 random students if they have heard of these school and give them the list of schools in the sun belt...I'd bet more than half of those 100 students knew only a 1/4 of those schools even existed. Sorry, but its true.

Cajuns will be the team.

Meanwhile need to get to business and that means confirming that UAB intends to remain Division I and scoot them into the league as a non-football member and then bring in NMSU for all sports giving us 9 full members for football, 3 non-football members for a tidy 12 in hoops, and then either switch to a 9 game schedule down the road (yuck) or cut the rope on Idaho.

If USA leaves we should add JSU, add NMSU as a full member, and cut Idaho.
