Yeah I think it is time we accept the mid major title. We'll just have to become a multi-bid mid major conference.

OD'ing on college basketball previews tonight. Yes, I need a life.
Anonymous quote from a coach on ESPN's writeup:
"More on the league: "It's going to be top-heavy, but the bottom of our league is going to really stink. Teams like Marshall, Rice, FAU and FIU are going to really hurt teams like Louisiana Tech and UTEP when it comes to trying to get an [NCAA] at-large bid. They won't have a chance.""

FAU, Marshall, Rice, UTSA have to get out of the gutter if we're going to be decent. CUSA will probably be a bit better this year though then it was last year overall. We lost 220 Tulane, 227 ECU, and 70 Tulsa. Gained 128 WKU.

Side Note: Rice currently has the #2 recruiting class in CUSA for 2015 and #62 in the nation.

Not sure where that ranking comes from but it might be due to a numbers thing. Rice currently has 5 verbal commits, one 3*, three 2* and one rated 2* by scout/ESPN and 3* by rivals. None are ranked in the top 150 and only one has a top 30 national position ranking.

Don't think WKU will stay at 128.

Yes, C-USA is a mid-major conference and has been all along.

Utsa is atrocious at the round ball. I hope being in CUSA has and will help their recruiting. It also doesn't help that they play in a high school like facility from their Southland days. I think things will eventually improve but it will take some time. Right now, I think the strong points are football (kinda down at the moment) and baseball. I think volleyball does really good but not too sure.

Hasn't been all along. But definitely since 2006.

Original CUSA was one of the best conferences in basketball: Memphis, Louisville, Cincy, St. Louis, and Marquette were perennial tournament teams. Even UH and UAB were only 10-15 years removed from Final Four trips. CUSA got 4+ bids per year consistently back then. I guess you have to forget how far the conference has fallen to maintain a sense of optimism about it...?

Agreed. Before 2006, CUSA was a Major conference in basketball. After 2006, it's was a Mid-Major conference that contained a Major program.

Is there an off campus facility you can use for B-Ball like you do for football?

I don't agree with that. Since UTEP joined, CUSA has been considered with the next group of conferences (MWC, MVC, A-10, etc.). I guess that's changed.
When your regular season and conference tourney champ gets a 13 seed in the tourney, maybe it's time to accept the reality.

Here is a little bit from a piece written for ESPN
Louisiana Tech should be better than it was last season, including the return of a healthy Raheem Appleby, but UTEP will also be improved, and the Miners will have more than enough bodies this time around. Many people have the league as a one-bid conference, but don't be surprised if C-USA sends two to the NCAA tourney come March.
Is CUSA a mid major if we send two teams to the NCAA tournament?

All of those conferences are technically considered Mid-Major, but may have Major programs within them. Just like C-USA was from 2006-2012. C-USA was a mid-major conference that contained a Major program. (Memphis)

Also 2016 recruit Josh Hall just committed to Rice. He's #67 in the nation according to Rivals. I wonder if Shaka is starting to regret losing Rhoades.

Yeah. True majors send 3-4 consistently.
