Its WAY better for us if different teams win the conference AND then win the Access bowl afterward. It will show depth and parity, which could lead to a decent bump when it comes time for the contract look in.

When did the BCS start?

Yeah maybe not the BS era but it's hard to top the 1991-1992 season. We won 11 games in a row including the Peach Bowl and finished in the top 10. Beating South Carolina, NC State, Va Tech, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, etc along the way.

If we somehow win out and win a Conference Title plus an Access Bowl game it would surpass that season.

We've had a lot of good wins in the BCS era but the stakes get higher at the end of the year if we are playing for the title/access bowl against UCF. Hopefully we will be but we gotta handle our business before and so does UCF.

This was more along the line of my thinking. Glad to see there are some reasonable ECU fans that aren't total homers.

The point being, college football has changed. Back in the day all the different bowls didn't have as much importance as they do now. The Access bowl, and especially a playoff spot marks a significant status. If ECU is able to win out, I think it makes a bigger statement. Yes, I do know that ECU has had some really big wins and seasons that included some big wins but a lot has changed since 1991.

With the consolidation of power and new structure, along with the skyrocketing income (1991 the income wasn't even close) I think a win now in the Access bowls would indicate that ECU has accomplished something that is higher then they ever have in the past.

I am rooting for them. For my own selfish reasons I want UCF to stay strong as USF turns things around, because honestly I think both of our chances to get into the Big 12 are enhanced by both of us being strong BUT for the health of the AAC, I think its a good thing if ECU wins out this year. It would show that the AAC has more than just 1 team that can beat P5 schools in a major bowl... hell, Id love it if Memphis became next years break out team and then maybe in 2016 USF has it turned around.

4 different teams winning major bowls in 4 years would move the AAC contract up quite a bit.

just a piece of advice. If you decide to be snarky or rude on a message board, at least take the time to research that the BCS era (which is included in the question) did not start till 7 years after the game you posted.

my 2 cents.

I agree with you, but some are sensitive and would prefer for you to clarify that we haven't had a big season in the BCS era,

Don't take it personally. He's not the first person in this thread to throw out the "you must be young" insults.

No shate, you don't say, like I had no idea. Guess you missed the point of my post about ECU having actually having big seasons and not just big win, heck with all your 54 posts you missed that what I posted wasn't a single game, but an entire season.07-coffee3

I'm not asking from an arrogant standpoint, I'm just curious to gauge your fanbase's excitement for this upcoming matchup.

Tell me your story!

The biggest game imo, would not fit your criteria as it would not fall under your definition of the "modern area." The BCS is not the modern era. I know some of you guys on here follow teams that have only about a 10 to 15 year total football history but college football did exist before USF and UCF had football and before UConn made the jump to division 1.
Let's check your math...

Its currently 2014 and UCF's first season was 1979 so...

2014-1979=35 years

Yes, we're a new program but we're not 10 years old like you're claiming.

Congrats on not having even basic knowledge of your conference-mates schools. Why does the age of the football program even matter to this discussion anyway? We're in the same exact place right now.

Obviously, that was more of a shot towards another school (your I-4 rival) in the league. You guys like UCONN, started playing division 1 football around the start of the BCS era. "watching football in the 60's?? What? Did you read my bio? I'm 38. You took the time to give me negative ratings points so I figured you had at least read my bio. You are a sensitive person to give me negative points for that, but two can play that game. I hate giving negative points but you'll get the same from me...right back at ya, as they say.
No, I didn't read your bio. I gave you negative rep straight from your post where you were calling UCF fans out and spreading misinformation.

Saying obviously false things will earn you negative rep. That's kind of how it works. I'm surprised you haven't figured that one out.

You are an a$$hole and don't know sh!t about football outside UCF. Btw, I have no issues with any UCF fans. Just you. Hope you have a better day tomorrow because your being a real d!ck today.

So let me get this straight...

You make a real condescending post:

Quote: I know some of you guys on here follow teams that have only about a 10 to 15 year total football history but college football did exist before USF and UCF had football and before UConn made the jump to division 1.

And what you're being condescending about isn't even correct information, so I gave you negative rep and corrected you. You then got all butt-hurt that I gave you negative rep and gave me negative rep back just to make a point.

I explain to you that I gave you negative rep because of your condescending attitude and because you're spreading false information about one of my two favorite NCAA programs.

You then blow up and call me the a-hole? 03-lmfao I'm sorry, but I'm not the one resorting to cursing and name-calling.

I don't even know what to say haha.

you don't give negative rep points for "condescending" posts like that junior, learn more about how this works and you LL understand. "spreading false information about one of your two favorite teams"?? Huh? You take yourself WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. BTW, you don't hand out neg points and not expect to get zinged right back.
