Why Columbus? He ****** up the Caribbean and south America not Africa. Maybe the slave trade? But even then more slaves went to the Caribbean and south America than the US. I think we should close school for the next 21 days to be safe.

100 people volunteered to be quarantined because of possible exposure. Last place I would want to be right now is under the care of the CDC

Euro Karma? Euro germs wiped a lot of people out.

I teach this type of stuff. We Euro decent people lived very close with animals and our own poop for thousands of years. People in the new world only had one native large animal that could be domesticated and it was the llama. We developed immunity to many different things and when they were exposed to them in the new world they killed as many as 90% of the population. New researchers are starting to give more blame to the French which sounds about right to me. 01-france

Bam.

RE: Ebola
And the stupidity continues.

So the White House hired a doctor to be the Ebola Czar..................not a real doctor a spin doctor.

HE HAS NO MEDICAL TRAINING 03-lmfao03-lmfao03-weeping03-weeping

He's a lawyer by trade. To quote WH spokesperson Josh Ernest.

“What we were looking for is not an Ebola expert, but rather an implementation expert,” said Earnest. “That’s exactly what Ron Klain is. He is somebody who has extensive experience in the federal government. ”

Ahh, just what we needed, another policy wonk bureaucrat.

The WH has a problem. The CDC head is a doctor and is simply not well versed in how to spin things like "Why allow travel from West Africa to the US." This clown will be able to explain why 35 countries have stopped planes from West Africa, while we won't.

Someone managed to mix an Ebola and PJ Fleck take:

I was just listening to a radio interview about the business impact of Ebola, which was basically an elite panic seminar.

Jeez Dip turn off the radio for a couple hours. You have to do something when the GOP votes to cut funding from the CDC and won't confirm a Surgeon General. Its almost comical the lengths that right wing hacks will go to criticize this President. Meanwhile the only case of ebola in the US is that banana republic of Texas where the non union nurses were given substandard protective gear at a for profit hospital.

You can't attempt to systematically dismantle the government for three decades and then run around like chicken little when you want a government response. But lets be honest this fear mongering in the echo chamber is meant to scare enough people in a couple of states so that the GOP can sneak a 51 seat senate majority and further obstruct the president. Dusting off the old 02 playbook. Just a pathetic group these days. Will literally do or say anything now even at the expense of creating a public health scare.

Liam, I've seen no prove that a conservative Republican or right wing group is responsible for this health scare. Perhaps you can show some solid proof that funding has been denied. As I understand it the amount provided to the CDC has been higher each year, perhaps not as much as what some may wish for but the numbers are still higher.

Always proud to be a Bronco.

You cite DNC talking points with the best of them.

In reality the House approved more funding for the CDC then Obama requested. As with everything sent to the Senate Harry Reid wouldn't let it go to a vote.

"dismantling government" 03-lmfao
Are you insane? We're spending more than we take in each year. We're 18 trillion in debt. That's like claiming poverty because you live in a mobile home with Ferrari in the car port.

Tell me, how much does it cost to check peoples passport when they enter the US? If the passport is from a West African country you deny them entry. Cost? NOTHING.

Similar, if they are from Texas, keep them off transit and build a fence around Dallas.

An anti-government anti-science right wing utopia like Texas shouldn't have any problem finding a private sector or religious charity to solve this problem for them. Why are they even whining about the bad ol gummint. The CDC is probably just a front group for gun confiscation. Yee Haw.

You have to really like the new Ebola Czar. No medical experience, a lawyer by trade, known mostly for having worked on the campaigns of both Biden and Gore. I'm certainly feeling more secure 03-weeping

For two weeks we've been told by the CDC head and by his puppet master at the WH, that stopping traffic from West Africa "will not keep it out of America." Rest assured, now that the polls show 80% of American's want flights from West Africa stopped, our Leader (from behind) will be ending those flights here. Does this guy ever make a decision that's not based on politics?

RE: Ebola
There are 4 direct flights from Africa to the US a day non of them are from ebola stricken countries.

Confirm the Surgeon General who is exceptionally qualified and the President won't have to make due with a czar.

Take some responsibility for governing this nation and help to solve problems instead of trying to exploit them for political gain.

Get your head out of the sand Liam. This President has it in his mind to punish this country for colonialism and this is his chance to do it.

Understand, we had ONE Ebola patient arrive from West Africa and that ONE patient has caused almost 100 people to have to be under observation, two more cases of Ebola, closed two schools in Ohio, and the potential end of Frontier Airlines. All from ONE Ebola patient.

There are 150 West African's entering the US each day, about 1000 a week, 52000 a year. You do the math. The potential is there for far more than ONE.

Our President needs to react in the best interest of the country. Right now he's playing politics rather than leading. He's more worried about how Ebola will effect the upcoming election than about the American people. The Ebola Czar is a political hack, with ZERO experience in the medical field. Even the left leaning NY Times and Washington Post are mocking this foolish appointment.

I wouldn't go that far, but CDC head stated that for us to stop flights from West Africa could hurt the emerging economies of West Africa 01-wingedeagle

That is insane, and that is the CDC head taking his marching orders from the President.

The President's job is to protect Americans, not to worry about West African emerging economies. It almost as if he's views it as unfair that we are unwilling to expose ourselves to Ebola, while letting the poor West Africans suffer with it.

The guy is all about equality. Equality of income, equality of happiness, equality of misery, and now it appears, equality of illness. Nuts. He thinks he's the leader of the UN rather than the leader of the US.

I'm failing to see any inconsistencies between ghost's WND world view and Dip's Fox News worldview...

An economic collapse in W. Africa doesn't mean kids move back in with their parents and complain on twitter about their job prospects. It means that social order breaks down. Liberia doesn't have a social safety net. What inevitably happens is mass migrations out of those areas into neighboring countries who don't have a strong health infrastructure. You need to stop people from spreading to stop the disease from spreading. We can't pretend that we are safe by banning the 4 flights a day from unrelated African countries. Its the price of globalization the world is too interconnected for the kind of barber shop policies that get thrown around on Fox and Friends.

I've changed my mind and think I am going to go to the homecoming game after all. Hopefully I can get rid of this high fever, projectile vomiting and extreme diarrhea by then. If not I'll just sit close to the restrooms.
BTW, does someone have a spare bedroom or couch I can sleep on while I'm there for a few days?

and yet countries in W. Africa are already trying to stop border crossers. Oh, the humanity.

Look if there was any use to a travel ban I don't have a moral objection to it but I'm not sure how it a. actually stops people with Ebola from getting in the country and b. how it gets us to the ultimate goal of eradicating this at the source.
