It's not that our fans are fickle. It's that we only have a small cadre of hard core fans, who come despite the weather or the won-loss record. To get large crowds, we need a huge number of casual bandwagon jumpers. Unfortunately, they don't turn out if the forecast contains a hint of rain, or if we just lost a game.

I don't see that ever changing. We have just not been good for so very long that it has been hard to grow the hard core fan base. Not saying it can't be done, but it takes a long time.

The efforts by admin to improve the gameday experience is a step in the right direction. Fans need a reason besides the won-loss record to come out. We know when we win, we get more casual fans. If we give them a good experience, beyond the game result, perhaps more will be inclined to later become hard core fans.

But nothing beats winning. The longer we consistently field a winner, the more our hard core fan base will grow. But that doesn't happen overnight. It takes years, maybe decades.

People were at bars watching Miss St, Ole Miss and the St Louis Cardinals. We have 30,000 core fans when we are good, 20,000 when we are not. It is what it is

If he's pissed, maybe he should go coach another team. As some on here have stated in other threads, Memphis has a core of about 20-30K fans. Anything above that requires good weather, a lack of marquee games on TV, and a winning Tiger team.

I can promise you the people who didn't go could give two $hits if Fuente is pissed. If he doesn't like it, he can go somewhere else. Although I'd caution him it'll be similar problems wherever he ends up next because he's not going to Florida.

He needs to focus on winning first and foremost. Urban Meyer found a way at Bowling Green and Utah. Brian Kelly did it at Central Mich and Cincy. Cutcliffe does it at Duke. Put on the big boy pants, Fuente.

I think he got a dose of reality last night. I just hope he don't give up like the rest of our coaches have in the past. He's younger and hungrier so I don't think he will. But it's gotta be disheartening

It turned out to be pretty decent weather, much better than was anticipated all week. On a related note, our fans need to clean out of Tiger Lane a little earlier. EVERYONE should be in their seats 15 minutes prior to kickoff. It seems that half the crowd doesnt get seated until after kickoff. When the players take the field for the last time b4 KO, they need EVERYONE there making noise & getting fired up.

Some better be careful what you wish for. A small stadium will also mean higher ticket prices. Some long time ticket holders might lose their seats.

I was pointing this pout after the Middle game and the thug crew attacked for telling fans how to act.

Reality is...you are 100% correct. While of course fans can do what they want, it is better for everyone if more get to their seats open time, instead of straggling in for the entire first half. Act big time. Less cigarette smoking would still help too, especially you fans smoking in your seats, but sorry for mentioning that since the thugs will assault for being intolerant...of smokers...in their seats, dropping F bombs and denigrating our players, in front of children, our future fan base, who follow examples.
