Week 1 Attendance.
I kn w what y'all are thinking "oh great, an ECU fan with an attendance thread." Really though, I was pretty excited to see how full Houston's stadium was last night.
So far:
ECU: 42,758
Houston: 40,755
UConn: 35,150
USF: 31,651
Memphis: 27,361
Tulsa: 19,032
Not bad imo. UConn and Tulsa are right around their 4 year average. Houston well above. Time to see what Memphis, USF and ECU have. Will be interesting to see how well the conference draws throughout the season.

Memphis' last 2 home openers have been 39,000 and 44,000. Its raining all day today though so I wouldn't predict anywhere close to those numbers. Especially being against Austin Peay

Houston's stadium looked great last night. That loss though will take a huge blow to excitement/attendance. I'm guessing houston will average 25,000-30,000 the rest of the year

Just telling everyone in advance not to flip out if our attendance against Navy isn't great. I think we'll get 30K-32K, so I hope people aren't expecting 40K+.

32k wouldn't be bad.

If the Greenville traffic since Friday is any indicator, we should have 48K and then some!

I'm just guessing with rain and playing a crappy team. I think we will average above 40,000.

I fail to see how that's so bad.
Look at Tulsa compared to some other private schools....
Tulsa- 4.3k students/20k 4 year fb avg.
Syracuse- 21k students, 39k
NW- 18k, 36k (with regional traveling fan bases)
Duke- 14k/26k.

Houston's stadium seats 43,000 and change. There were more than 3,000 empty seats.

That's not. If Rice drew 19k legitimately, nobody would be complaining here in Houston, either. I haven't complained when going to a Rice game, but I haven't been sitting in my truck for a whole hour on the top level of a parking garage with nothing to do, like last night, either.

The empty seats really showed up later on in the 3rd quarter. I had a seat up in section 311 (nosebleeds, I reckon), but I managed to wedge my way in behind the band. As did many others who did likewise around the concourse.

RE: Week 1 Attendance.
I think that our largest home opener at Temple at our current stadium was against local rival Villanova. We officially had about 38k. However the tix box offices had long lines and the walk up situation hurt our attendance that day.
Navy is only a few hours away so they should bring a crowd. Temple has a lot of new students eager to checkout the team so all of them should be there. And oh yes, the win should bring out the alum and local fans. It's hard to believe that we are 1-0. 30k fans should be a lock. Now it's time to think 40k ...

LOL it seats 40K and was packed to the gills.
My Mom, who planned to arrive an hour before game time, got to her seat 10 minutes after kickoff. Thousands more were behind her.

The upper decks looked a bit sparse on the edges even in the 1st quarter. Not saying there weren't a junk ton of people there though.
