Let me elaborate my point in case it doesn't come off clear, or mocking.

I coached several years at a school who hired a basketball coach. This guy acted like a little Pitino. He had coached college ball, and bled basketball. If he slept 5 hours a night I'd be surprised. A decent guy too, family man etc.

He was a BBall rat and worked camps across the country. Worked the Coach K camp for years.
To watch his teams practice was a bit impressive. He drilled the crap out of his teams. I'm confident he memorized word for word how Coach K explained a drill. When his voice went up critiquing a segment of the drill I'm sure it was exactly the way coach K did it.

But he spent his whole experience trying to mimic what worked for other people, not developing his own path. He had 1 winning season at a school that had won a state title not too long before.

He also closed down practices. And would stop practices until people left. Outside of the AD, strength coach, and a couple of us other head coaches.
