Powell showed exactly what he is and what he stands for. He just used the system as long as he could. He's no different than Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton.

Yeah, I think Powell was sucked into the cult of having the first black president. The Generals/Admirals of today are not those of MacArthur/Eisenhower fame. In most cases they are just as political as your average elected representative.

Just as? How about more than?

When Elmo Zumwalt, as CNO, pinned the stars on Grace Hopper, the first female rear admiral, he gave her a kiss on the cheek. He was asked later if that was the first time he had ever kissed an admiral. He replied, "Oh no, you don't get where I am without kissing plenty of admirals.

That is a crying shame too.

Those final years of an eight-year presidency tend to be a transition period in the mind of the public where they start to think about the next president. It's also a time where few major pieces of legislation are passed. It also represents a time of freedom for the sitting president since they will never face election again.

Glad to see you have given up. The next president will have to campaign on undoing all the damage Zero has done.

There was a former general that ran for office last time. I can't remember his name but I would vote for that guy if he ran again.

You can't remember his name, but you'd vote for him. What a hoot. You'd vote for a blank name on a ballot. You must have done that before.

His name escaped me for a moment. It was Wesley Clark.

RE: Is the Obama presidency essentially over?
Don't over think the issues. Obama was elected in 2008 and 2012 by four primary factors:
1) hard core liberals
2) 95% + of minorities
3) moderate whites on both sides that had MAJOR cases of white guilt; they didn't want to look racist by voting against the black guy
4) national media wanting to help MAKE history and not just REPORT it; they totally handled Obama with kid gloves until around 2013

Everyone - even the core lib base - realizes Obama is just a horrible President. Poor decision making, poor leadership, unable to communicate effectively; has ruined American credibility worldwide; has no concept of base economic issues; and has no problem abusing the public trust. No one trusts him. Scandals rock his Administration.

No BS - this guy is an absolute embarrassment. He was in wa-a-a-a-ay over his head from Day 1 and just sunk deeper. Pathetic.
